OPTIONS: 2014 E63S V. 2014 CLS63S

HERE'S THE ANSWER: DISTRONIC PLUS WITH "STEERING ASSIST." MY E HAD IT BUT MY CLS DOES NOT. BUMMER! My2014 E63S would drive itself around corners, keeping my lane nearly all the time, until the "red hands" showed up and I had to touch the wheel again. My 2014 CLS63S doesn't seem to do this, dealer flashed the latest Distronic Plus software in today. Same chassis, same year, how do i find the SPECIFIC options my CLS should have, and what the indications are. Mine is a North Amerca build, but first sold in Canada. Ik about the "foot under the rear bumper" on the E class, and instead the CLS' mirrors fold in, like later E class 63s. Any ideas, Peeps? Thank you!

Just give a dealer your CLS vin and ask them to print you the build sheet, no?

Done that. But it still doesnt say why my CLS D+ doesn't act the same as my E class D+ did. Subtle differences, you know? My SA says it just keeps changing during any model year. Thank you.

Yeah then I'm not sure and someone else would have to chime in. You'd think being essentially identical cars they'd behave the same way... Best of luck!

Thank you carhopper, yes it's a little bit deeper. you would think they would be nearly exactly the same but apparently they kept modifying the chassis until they declared a new model year and then they kept modifying until the next model year... through 2016, I guess, for the E63S, how long did the CLS last, 2017, or the same as the E? Anyways, one REALLY has to seriously test drive each one you're interested in to see what they have! I mean, my E had 50k, so I was happy to get the CLS with only 18k, but where is my "nearly autonomous" driving feature? Lol...

Distronic+ drives by itself around curves?

Yes, as long as there are clear road markings it will steer around corners without issue.

It will alarm and deactivate if your hands are off the wheel for too long a time.

It works well, and definitely gives a safety buffer. I do not endorse driving with no hands on the wheel.

So, do you get the "red hands" like I did in my E-class?

Yes, but it is not meant to be a full self driving system hence it wanting your hands on the wheel at all times.

Also, if the side marker lines suddenly disappear on the road it will disengage the self steering immediately.

But it will easily steer through a corner if you let it.

Without a doubt with the adaptive cruise control and self steering it makes it easy to soak up the miles on the highway. However, I like to keep my hands on the steering wheel
