W212 2014 E550 Biturbo 4matic Stage 1
How to make my tuned up W212 E550 Biturbo faster!

Hey everyone, first time posting on this form, I currently have a 2014 Mercedes E550 biturbo with about 40k miles on it currently, I recently got it tuned to AMG performance with stock power at 408hp and 443lbs of torque, I got it stage 1 tuned up to about 510hp and 630lbs of torque (850nm) and wow does it pull😍 I’ve taken a couple of amgs and bmw M sports off the line. Did not have to do any crazy upgrades for my car as the tuner said my breaks were already good enough for the power, but I he did recconmend performance air filters which I purchased K&N ones. Don’t have any 0-60 times yet or any videos but will get some
soon!

Went with an Eagle eye ECU, they have a local dealer in my city and only costed about $650 Canadian for the whole thing!

This is the power upgrades for the E550

My question is how could I possibly make it the car perform even more well or what other perfomace upgrades can I do to make my car the best that it can be. Thanks!

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ecu tune; edok tcu tune; BB intakes; dyno tuned
Tcu tune and eurocharged tune and you'll be at e63S level

I was thinking of a TCU tune but they are very pricey, I’m thinking of getting one done in the near future! Thanks

$1800 for a tcu then is pricey??

for the performance it delivers I think it's a drop in the bucket on a $80k car

I'd take the K&N or any type of performance air filter out and put back to OE as multiple sources confirm that the amount of dust they let through and put into the engine is cause for concern .

Yeah, pretty close, depending on who takes off first.
I ran 12.0 without a TCU tune and high 11's(11.7) on 93 with a stage 2 ECU tune and a TCU tune. With my other mods and custom "Stage 3+ Secret-Squirrel" tune, I run low 11's.
Performance is there, you just gotta know how to find it...

Second this one. The majority of people over oil the filters + leading to MAF issues over time. OEM filters are not restrictive enough to matter.

fair point!
I guess we only use the pressure sensors and temperature and the volume is calculated? makes sense I guess.

I highly recommend a set of Blackboost intakes really helps up top and duty cycle on your waste gates drop so your turbos are not working as hard to make the same power.
great results from people installing them and datalogging. only down fall on 550s is that the engine cover does not fit. I personally like mine with out my cover.

And yes hood closed during blackboost pulls

M157 Blackboost filter installed

By the way we use BMC filters made in Italy and used by some Exotic cars from factory.

been thinking about this...

i dont agree at all. I think the stock diverter and air box may be part of the reason we see issues on front cylinders.

i would use intake risers and k&n or bb. Basically u want charge air to not be forced back into the turbos as much as u can. Right now i think it gets pushed back into the air intake boxes which are not free flowing and some flows into first few cylinders. U may get a sensor issue though with k&n oiled filters and particles maybe.

bov/Bypass valve would also be helpful. Working on methanol tuning right now so it cuts off meth boost levels when meth runs out. Need to force a limp home mode or reduced performance.

Methanol and turbos should get u to 600-750whp. And i would guess very close to a maxed out e63s. I think the tranny holds both platforms back at the top. A tuned 550 should beat a 63 maybe not an S tho it would be very close. Driving tuned 278s and 157s in 2014 cls 550 vs 63s back to back, the rest of the car is much more notable. Like brakes steering etc. amgs are more dialed in.

fwiw stock power is often dynod at 380 which is much more than 406 crank hp likely 430-460. Some stage 1 tunes like alpha and i believe new rt are 580 hp.

I think it has more to do with the way the turbo housing and exhaust manifold are designed. The first cylinder on each head feeds an individual passage to the turbo housing and the remaining 3 cylinders merge together in the manifold and feed a different portion of the turbo housing. I believe that, coupled with the front cylinders being farthest away from the throttle body work in conjunction to keep the front 2 Cyl more lean and hotter than the other cylinders. But, that's just a guess...

I'm tuned, have stock turbos and I do NOT use meth and I'm faster than a stock E63S. Iean, it's technically a custon "race gas" tune, definitely not "off the shelf", but still, here I am!

TCU tune helps too!

Magazine times for the e63s are around 11.6@121 so your times are indeed better. Magazine times are adjusted for DA, and are run on a track (so they are on a flat surface) but opposite the normal direction (so a non-sticky surface).

Race gas certainly makes a difference, but that's one fast e550. Have you posted the dragy?

yes I have, and the DA was a little high, so that is an uncorrected time...hmm...wonder what is is corrected???

Looks like corrected time is between 11.28-11.36, so not too bad

Another data point I wasn't expecting. Rolling start pull against a taycan turbo s, ahead by half a car. Completely shocked. I don't understand it. the taycan turbo s should be faster.

Edit: looking into it more it seems there is an overboost feature not sure how it is enabled. without it, makes more sense as the taycan turbo s power drops to about 600hp after the overboost period.

Also ... I can make my e63S a 10.0 second car ... for a day before it blows the engine or trans ... but I'm looking for some somewhat longer reliability lol
