2014 ML63 Looking to log

I have a 2014 ML63 that I'm looking to log. I have the EC stage 2 tune with one step colder plugs and smaller gap. I also have the TCU tune. I have an issue when at highway speed and I go to accelerate quickly the ML stumbles then picks back up again. I talked to tuner and they say I need to log it. To help find issue Im looking for a good simple logging set up that will provide good info for the tuner to look for what is causing this. Thank you in advance.

Hey Reverron,

I'm in a similar boat and I've sent logs to Jerry who has been looking them over. While I've only got the one mod, and so there might not be the same root cause, I'm curious if you can describe more the circumstances of the stumble?

How long have you been on these tunes? Has the issue be occurring the entire time you've had them? If you return to stock does it go away?
What mode and gear are you in when you go to accelerate quickly?
Does the stumble feel like the car is bogging or do you feel engine vibration as if there is a misfire?
Do you have any CELs or other error messages?

If you do grab the HPTuners (I just did for the first time last week and found it to be pretty easy overall) make sure you run two scenarios:

1) 3rd gear pull from 2000rpm to Redline with traction control off (this seems to be the standard baseline for comparison)
2) Your highway speed stumble

My recommendation if you do this is to have a passenger who can help capture just the snippet of data you need. My first time around was too large of a dump for Jerry to take a good look at.

Do you have Jerry’s ecu/tcu? Did you do both mods at same time. You and i have similar issues.

No codes pop up Ml just just cuts off like hitting a rev limiter but RPM's are nowhere close to it.. it might be a 1/2 a sec then picks back up again. this doesn't have to be full throttle it can be medium like merging on highway or passing someone.

@JGun How long have you been on these tunes?
I've had the tune for several months but I don't drive the ML much until recently
Has the issue be occurring the entire time you've had them?
I just started paying attention and started to notice them. I was told to try the TCU tune to fix issue might be too much torque reported

If you return to stock does it go away?
that is the next step I was going to try a stage 1 tune first before going to stock tune because of downpipes
What mode and gear are you in when you go to accelerate quickly?
It's usually 7th and it's a medium to hard acceleration at highway speed like to pass someone. first time I wasn't driving my girl was merging in traffic from 40 mph
Does the stumble feel like the car is bogging or do you feel engine vibration as if there is a misfire?
feels like it's bogged down or hit rev limiter then takes off again
Do you have any CELs or other error messages?
no CEL's or rough idle.
it usually happens around 40 to 60 mph

I just picked up the HPtuner and im watching video to learn how to log and grab some data.

Let me know if you need help setting up the HPTuner. The guys on the TCU forum should assist if they haven't black listed you because of me. LOL

Roverron - will be interested to see your HP Tuners data. The issue that I feel - the bogging I feel also happens to me in 7th under the same conditions (deciding to pass someone or get sporty - happens to me regardless of which mode I'm in). It seems possible that it is somehow related to the transmission dropping into 5th and perhaps some type of engine management to compensate for it. I'm traveling for Thanksgiving so plan to try and recreate it and see if I can capture with HPT module.

I also switched to a burble-less tune and will try that to see if there is any effect on my end. I also plan to change the transmission fluid over the holiday as well and get it inspected at Blackstone Labs as a point of comparison.
