muffler deletes..... who's done and feedback ?
So after picking up a clean 2012 E63 I quickly ran it over to ECatx and they worked their magic do cat - deletes, BB intake and E40 / TCU tune..... utterly a different car....working thru tires / rims and cosmetics now ..... but debating doing muffler deletes when I have it over again to EC for the IC pump upgrade and some PM and misc.... anyone who's done it and can share thoughts ? the car is a DD but we live in the country so cold starts aren't an issue.... My older C63 507 w/ headers and just an Akra exhaust was right on the edge of being too loud but had a very unique tone....
TIA for feedback..
TIA for feedback..

Depends the end goal. I have x-pipe and muffler delete. Very loud at WOT and nice grumble around town. If you are hauling the kids around this isn’t the setup you want. I have the cats so not much drone but def a little above stock.
loudest would be muffler delete and down pipes. I don’t think I could handle that, be nuts.
x-pipe only usually is the best for uptick in noise with retaining the refinement.
If you daily drive it keep the mufflers.

Why don't you guys disable the cold start via a tune if you have no cats? Makes a big difference. In the BMW world we did cold start delete and removed cat heat cycle since it was not needed.
Is this possible on the m157?

why would you? It’s like skipping the best beat in a song so you can read the lyrics 😂

I see your CEL is on. Is that cuz the Catless DP's? Tuning still does not fix that? (I figured that by now they might have "found" a way)

I wouldn't say that "extremely" loud. It sounds nice at cold start and idle... but, honestly, the pops and bangs are a tad bit much for me... is that simply the "side effect" of Catlessness or is that "burble tune"?

The burble only pops 2 times or so when letting off the throttle after WOT only unless I blip the throttle after letting go multiple times it extends the pops, which I did in that video since a friend was taking a video.
The CEL was on for a faulty intake sensor, it’s off now. Tune definitely turns off off the cel from removing cats.

You can kinda hear it at the end of this video when I let off it popes a couple of times and that’s it

Also here in Austin(just saw you're in Houston...), so let me know if you wanna meet up and hear it. I'm catless 3" MBH Downpipes, straight pipes and 3 chamber "flowmaster-style" mufflers, all 3". I come to south Houston a lot as well, Mom's in Lake Jackson area.
I also have cold start video mid-system install of just Downpipes, xpipe and dumps(no mufflers) if you want to see/hear that as well:

That sounds good...... going to go ahead with the muffler deletes this month and will post video up.... thinking keeping the center sections is the key to having it be managable with no drone, recall in my last RS6 setup with had to add in a set of Burns resonators / h-pipe to eliminate the drone...

I have done a muffler delete and its louder but not crazy loud but enough to bring out the V8 AMG roar which I think should of came that way. After a few months, I needed more sound and deleted the resonator and replaced with straight pipe and now it is louder with loud pops. A lot more aggression now. You can check my IG as I posted some video clips of my car.

All and all it sounds pretty crazy but I am sure it isn't as loud as say, DP, resonator delete and exhaust delete. I think for someone like myself that is a huge car enthusiast and sound is important to me that makes driving more fun this is a good set up in my opinion. Some will say it is too loud and some will say it is perfect

The tone definitely changed and breathes more and with that in mind the loud pops when upshifting and pops when letting the gas go at around 2-3k RPM. When you hit over 4500 RPM, the exhaust notes just turns into a freakin loud Lion screaming lol.

I’m curious how it would be if I throw the resonator back in and remote the mufflers.

I’m running downpipes and resonator replaced with H pipe, it’s loud for sure but retains AMG tone.

By the way, in your current set up do you get loud pops when upshifting and downshifting?

The only hesitation I have with muffler delete is a test drive I had in an E63 prior to purchasing my own. The lack of mufflers created a rattle in the exhaust over less than ideal road conditions. Enough so that I don't think I would do muffler delete on my own car (even though it sounded great).

I bet there was an issue with the piping works. Shouldn't rattle at all.

Makes sense - I was hesitant to post it. Part of the reason I passed on that particular car was the rattle, but partly also bc the owner did not give me a vibe that he maintained/took care of the car really well. So I guess, it's more of a warning to people that want to do this to make sure you have a good shop do the work for you.
