E63 and E63 S center heat exchanger

Hello!

Does the E63 and E63S share the same center heat exchanger? Part number A1975000103. Im asking this because the S model have the extra heat exchanger 0995003203 on passenger side bumper and I want to install that on my CLS550.

I have an heat exchanger part number A0995002803 now and maybe I need to swap it also to that A1975000103 model and try to figure out what hoses it would also needs to connect to that extra heat exchanger 0995003203? And what other hoses and stuff is needed also? Maybe someone non S model owner has connected the extra heat exchanger to his car and knows what is needed.

Engine is going out ( I hope) soon, so the heat exchanger upgrades could be done in the same time with turbo upgrade.

Can anyone help me out with this?

Here is the link what shows the difference between M157 and M157 + M 014 with extra heat exchanger and different hoses. The center HE looks the same on E63 and E63S. https://www.eggmalltech.com/en-TH/pr...changeRoute=no

I still need figure out that can I keep my original center HE and somehow connect that with extra heat exchanger on. In CLS550 center HE connections are in both end, not like the E63, where they are located in same end.

Have you seen the VRP split cooling kit? Maybe that will be useful info.

Thanks for tip, but my car does have that split cooling system in stock. The problems is that for example on E63 and E63 S model there are a many different hoses in the cooling system even they share same central HE. Please see that link I posted. There you can see what are the different hoses between E63 M157 and E63 S M157 + 014. So it would be much easy to upgrade the E63 to E63 S extra heat exchanger system. Im suprised if anyone AMG E63 owner have not done it?

In my M278 car the central HE is different than on those AMG models, so there is no "bolt on" system. Maybe it can be done on custom hoses or change the central HE to AMG if that even fit to M278..

so, the A1975000103 is the HE that goes in the lower/right side opening of the bumper(and bottom/left side vent on the S models). You should be able to install the 2nd one and it's hoses with no issue. I believe A0995002803 is the center HE found on the 4.0ltr cars. May be able to use it, but would be interesting to see if it will fit. If it does, might be easier to install and plumb? Are you having issues with IAT? If so, hard wiring your I/C pump would be very helpful.

Looking at you first post, it seems you may already have the center HE plumbed? if so, that in combination with the stock one in the lower right should be more than enough for your car. I can't see a 3rd HE helping much, if any...

I don't get what u are trying to say. Three heat exchangers?

A1975000103 is M157 E63 (S), CLS63 (S) center IC HE. https://www.ebay.com/p/1951706315.

A0995002803 is CLS550, E550, SL550, E400 center IC HE. https://www.ebay.com/p/3010036590 (This is in my car)

A0995003203 is E63 S and CLS63 S passenger side extra IC heat exchanger https://www.ebay.de/itm/Mercedes-CLS...gAAOSwmFJf2yP0 This is what I want to connect with my cars center HE A0995002803 for extra cooling.

Yes I have connect my IC pump to run when I want. I have a switch on it and also its make to run as early that can be done in my ECU tune. Yes I would like extra cooling on hot summer days or back to back hard pulls. So no ignition timing pulls will ever happen.

ok, hold on, you should already have 2 H/E...your car should have the A0995002803 in the middle, and the A0995003203 in the right side of the bumper, just in front of the wheel liner. so, you can add the 3rd H/E on the driver's side if you want. You'll just have to piece together the hoses and such and get the proper housing and air diverter for the CLS63s.

No I haven't got two IC heat exchangers, just one. Not any M278 powered car have this extra IC heat exchanger (A0995003203) on bumper . Only E63 S and E63 CLS S models have that. Why you say E550 have it?

The SL550 and S550 does have an extra exchanger on passenger side bumper, but it does help the engine fluid cooling system, and it is connected to the main radiator. Its called" coolant radiator" part numberA2185001000. Maybe your car have this system?? Are you really sure that you have nothing there on passenger bumper, or just thinking you have?

I have 2 coolers for the I/C system, the large one, between the AC condenser and radiator, and I have the smaller cooler in the right side of the bumper. I don't have the additional 3rd cooler like an E63S, but I have the other 2.

Hi. Yes your car should have this between AC and main rad like my car have https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Radiator-...orig_cvip=true. In there link is a list what cars does have that.

Are you really sure your car have smaller cooler on passenger side? Can you please check it. Only M278 engined S550 and SL550 should have it. If you for some unknown reason have it, its purpose is to help main engine radiator cooling not that IC cooling like on S models.

Can you PM your cars VIN code to me so my buddy in authorized Mercedes part shop can really see what parts your car have.

On the E63S models, there are 2 aux HEs, one in each air dam. The right aux HE in the right air dam helps IC. Most IC cooling is done by the main HE in front of the engine. The left aux HE in the left air dam helps the main radiator cool engine.

On the pre-facelift E63 M157 models, the only aux HE in the right air dam helps the main radiator cool the engine water circuit. The left air dam is partially occupied by the windshield washer reservoir, and is sealed. With some creativity, the pre-facelift E63 may be retrofitted with another aux HE in the left air dam, but this is likely a lower ROI than other solutions like the upgraded IC pump(s) and/or center IC HE and/or aux coolant reservoir in the fender like those from Alpha.
