Spark plug replacement?
2016 E63S
Dealer suggests I change them
It's been 5 years but the car has only 28K miles
Can I wait until 40K?

Spark plugs either go by the mileage or the years which ever comes first. Also make sure to use the Genuine Mercedes plugs and not OEM or OE and torque them to specs.

Replacement from the dealer is kinda pricey and I am completely ignorant when it comes to car maintenance.
I don't drive the car very much.

Too many to list
The maintenance manual assumes you drive 10k miles/year so it says to change spark plugs at year 6 or 60K miles. So you still got 1 more year left but then you only got 28K and barely drive it, I'd say save your money for something else. Spark plugs don't just go foul from sitting around.

I would get them changed with OEM parts, but maybe at respected local Mercedes specialist shop outside of the dealer if they are charging high prices. As mentioned, plugs do require change from age aswell due to multiple reasons, one of the main being, potentially older plugs seizing and unable to be removed.

I'm using you also have the older design coils as well. They are skinner then the new model ones. Would invest in a set of newer coils before spark plugs

your mileage is quite low, so if you car isnt tuned and you arent having any misfire issues, you probably could hold off on changing the plugs for a couple more years. Would only suggest replacing coil packs if you have misfire issues, but you dont appear to have any problems with misfires it sounds like.
if you do take your car to an independent shop to install new plugs BE SURE they understand how to index the new plugs properly!!!! if they go with MB OEM plugs they should index properly if they are installed and torqued to the correct spec. but if they use a different plug then you to ensure the ground strap properly lines up with the injector (SEE THIS: https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...ark-plugs.html)

I really over thought this process. I played it safe and torqued everything to spec and made a mark on my spark plug socket and entension bar to where the open part of the plug was facing so everything went on properly when torqued to spec
