I guess making rude remarks makes you feel better about yourself.

Thanks for contributing to the conversation.

At this time it's a close fight between the ML and E. S has moved into 3rd place. ML seems to be the better choice to live with but the performance of the E is really hard to pass up.
I never really warmed up to the 212 but the facelift cars look pretty good.

It's funny, when I started my search, I really liked the facelift 212's best but now I much prefer pre-facelift. Given, they need to be lowered and need to have a front lip. Of course this is all subjective.

2023 E63S Wagon
ML is too high up for me, too SUV

Get a wagon. Better feel to drive, sportier, faster, and more room.

You can do this...
and this!

Then heard the same thing about the owners of the 2008 models with ABC. Now, it's interesting that I'm hearing it about the 2012+ models. ABC problems are all about time/mileage/heat. It will fail given time/mileage and heat destroys the rubber lines. One hose bursts and you have toasted your entire system and they have not figured out how to eliminate blown hoses. The hose blows and the pump grenades itself sending tiny metal particles throughout the system. It creates a domino effect that is the gift that keeps on giving.

Yes, there seems to be a noticeable decline in failures with the 2012+ ABC systems. However, given my past history with ABC, I would not trust an ABC equipped car as far as I could throw it. MB looks to have ditched hydraulic based ABC on their new AMG cars and went with an Airmatic based system. That tells me everything I need to know about the old hydraulic based system that runs off a belt driven pump.
Were the 2005 & 2008 model comments about ABC being fixed made 9 years into the model life? Likely not - there's been enough time now to see that ABC was essentially fixed (finally). There are threads around changes if you're curious. Regardless, it seems you have other reasons to not personally prefer the models with ABC.

Like I said, the newest and apparently last models equipped with ABC do seem much more reliable but, over the years, it's all time and mileage with the rubber hoses and pumps. I've owned bi-turbo V12 ABC equipped vehicles on and off for the last 15 years. I loved the vehicles just hated the ABC. To me, it's artificial and sensory deprived. It does keep the car very stable in deep braking and around corners but does not take large bumps well. Looks like MB is moving/moved away from the standard mechanical hydraulic pump driven ABC and I, for one, and really happy they did.

I am a huge AMG fan, and think the E63s are darn near perfect. Not too huge, not too small, and basically the stealth bomber dressed in a tuxedo when it comes to cars. In fact, I like them so much, I got a second one to keep the other one company.

Seriously though. They genuinely fit the bill for everything they are intended for. Comfort, speed, quiet, amenities, perfect size for (4) people to gobble up large swaths of land in speed and comfort. I used to be a BMW guy, but never again. We also had the C63-S and CLK63 AMG Black Series, and AMG just brings something to the party that nobody else does, and I love that.

I believe I have read that the 2 best days that you ever have when owning a CL65 are the day you bought it, and the day you sold it.

Unlike most buyers, I'm very familiar with the cars and their systems. In addition, I have access to dealership parts at employee prices and technical support from some of the highest ranked techs in the brand.
I know full well what I'm getting in to and have the resources to handle it.

Picking it up at a wholesale price under $25,000 means there's plenty of budget left to maintain it.

Thank you! Yep, up until January I actually had (2) NSXs as well. The other was a Zanardi Edition (1 of 50 ever made). The white one I have had for almost (20) years and has been a daily driver in rain, sun, sleet, snow, track days, and even used to haul stuff. I think it has over 263,000 miles on it now. Life has been good to me, and I feel very fortunate and lucky for it.

Does that count for the 8.9 liter V8 I built for my 1972 Chrysler Imperial?
