The properly modded 2014-2016 E63S is the perfect sedan

Prove me wrong! I love this car.. got it new in 2014 and loved it until I started the tuning journey 3 years ago.

I loved it even more, now with BB intakes, edok tcu, and AMS 100 Spartan tune .. jeebus

cheers

2014 AMG E63S and 2020 AMG GTC
It's hard to argue with you... show me any other vehicle in today's market that combines bulletproof reliability and screaming performance coupled with daily practicality and refinement.... I'll wait. It truly is a gentleman brawler.
I get the itch for something new every now and then, but nothing out there grabs my attention at this price point... this car really is unique I feel.
The only other vehicle I was remotely considering was the M5 Comp, but it has a glass jaw relatively speaking. Great performance but a ticking time bomb. I came out of a M6GC before getting my E63S and the ownership experience has been day/night different... for the better with the AMG.
And for those of us tweakers... the aftermarket industry has finally got the M157 platform figured out... it's no longer a huge investment to wring more performance out of the platform.

Now that the rumor mill is discussing the demise of the V8TT I think we should all consider holding on to these... there's nothing worse then aftersale regret...

Can't agree with you more, Peter.
Also have mine since new, still no performance mods. Will be holding on to it for a while...

2023 E63S Wagon
I'd argue that the properly modded 2014-2016 E63S is the perfect wagon.

For me the other GT type AWD car that's close (stock to stock) is the Ferrari FF but less space, and $$$,$$$.$$
The E63S is crazy value. Just crazy.

2015 E63S 4Matic
I lust after other cars sometimes, but ultimately there is some sort of dealbreaker trade-off [price, poor daily, no room for kids, reliability, etc]. Ultimately the next step up from here is a 911 Turbo or a Mclaren. Because that is what it will take to get me to switch at this point.

That is saying something, as I have a bit of a different ownership experience than y'all. I bought mine in December 2019 with 65k miles [2015 E63S, 1 owner] and it's had the most insane cost of ownership of any vehicle I've ever owned. I've had $18k in incidentals and have put <4k miles on the car. $4.50/mile, not including fuel, is significantly higher than any other AMG I have owned previously [w211 E55, w211 E63, w204 C63] and leaps and bounds above my wife's porsche or my prior porsches. I get that with a sticker >100k the cost of ownership would be high, but I wasn't expecting the differential to be exponentially higher than my other E class AMGs. food for thought.

A small percentage of our experiences will
be bad like yours, and I'm sorry that's how it went. Been there myself!

I'm hoping that it's an investment. And that I've addressed what needed to be addressed to obtain longevity. I drive 4.1 miles a day down LSD to the hospital, and 4.1 on my way home. It's a lot of ignition cycles and not a lot of miles. I've done all the coils [and some twice!], all the plugs, tires, brake fluids, air conditioning serviced [twice, tracking down some leaking o-rings], coolant reservoir sprung a leak/cracked, oil temp/level sensor on the oil pan, transmission software update to fix general clunkiness [best labor cost I've ever paid, changed the car dramatically], oil leak yielding a cover replacement [and some "hexalobular bolts"], both intake tubes disintegrated [and replaced with the spectre tubes], fluids flushed x2 and oil changes x2. There's other random stuff I've forgotten. But 10+ dealer trips in <4k miles.

Suffice to say had been scared to mod it with the constant nagging issues and the monthly or twice monthly dealer trips but once things stabilized Jerry tuned it for me [just ECU]. I very much have enjoyed the car as-is, and haven't been tempted by the TCU yet, even though I know it seems to be incredibly efficacious. That's probably next, along with the BB intakes.

I also need to do some 0-60 runs now that I've been tuned for a few months. My 0-60s in stock form were pretty pathetic compared to most of the cars here. My stock 60-130 was 11sec and dropped to 9.5 after the ECU tune. The stock 0-60 was 4 flat.
