Rattling Noise and Rough Idle?

Hey guys,

I've just purchased a 2015 E63. Loving everything about it but noticed some strange things too:
  • Rattling sound almost like someone shaking a maraca - I can hear this when I take my foot OFF the throttle at low speeds and when I downshift to make the revs jump up, it increases noticeably too. It seems to be related to engine speed. Goes away when I apply throttle or put car in neutral when moving. Tonight I noticed a strange sound at idle (like a faint buzzing) but again this went away when I increased revs in park. See below for a youtube video...the noise can just about be heard around the wind noise...
  • The car has a rough idle - not noticeable from listening to the engine but the revs are jumping up and down on the dash slightly.
Wondered if these are common faults that I can tell the garage to look into. Other than these, the car seems to be running fine and definitely has adequate power. No CEL or anything.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The revs is a multi factorial investigation including coils, plugs, scope the cylinders, check aux battery

the rattle on accel could be drive shaft hangar see my sticky ... could be a heat shield, could be trans mounts

happy thanksgiving and congrats

Thanks very much. It's going in for a full service, new plugs etc so i'll mention it. Will also suggest they look into the hangar. I've read the full thread so I'm aware of the fix. If anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Also pull the codes ... not all stored codes will throw CELs

are you in a cold climate? Winter blend fuels mess with these m157s sometimes and you'll have to change gas stations

I will have a look at codes. Just in the UK so climate is relatively mild. I've noticed no trouble starting even when cold.

Hi guys. Been really enjoying the AMG but still have this annoying rattling noise. It's kind of embarrassing driving it around particularly in a city when it sounds like this. No issues whatsoever with the way it drives or the transmission, just this really annoying sound. Since first posting I've had a good look at the exhaust and can't see anywhere it would be rattling against. Any ideas welcome. It goes away in neutral very distinctively. Hopefully you can hear it a little clearer in this video, particularly at the end:
