I ordered a set of 4 Cam position sensor extensions from ZZ. (Yes there is a cam position sensor only set available: 2011-20 Mercedes Benz 4.7L Camshaft Position Sensor 3 Pin Harness Extension M278). The connector for the sensor end is identical to the original. The harness end connector has additional bits to connect to its original intended application, but fits perfectly, including weather seal. Wagon starts and runs fine...no codes thrown. Yay!

Along with the pigtails, couldn't a silicone be used as well in the connectors? Or has there been evidence it get by that as well?
Oil wicks along the metal male-female contacts, which are in intimate physical contact. It then wicks along the harness-side contact along the wire and into the insulation, and from there it goes anywhere it can go.
So, no. Silicone in the connector is not a solution. New sensors and magnets are the solution to the root cause, which is failed magnets and sensors. Replacement harness and ECU are sometimes required if the saturation is sigificant enough.

4 years later, the price is double. I am so mad at myself that I didnot replace it back then while doing this. It's a big job, I don't think I can handle it now, getting old.

make sure you confirm exact part as new stats line up to a new pump part number…my 13 had old pump part number, so had to get old stat. So just be aware as you replace these parts so you don’t have to buy something twice if one of the other ones fails in the future.
Dealer won't give me a break on labor. They gave me a quote of $1100 for tstat and $2000 with water pumb. Plus tax and fees. They said they will give some labor discount for the belt & pulley.... but prices for their parts are so expensive, much more expensive than FCP. Do you guys know any good mechanic in Tampa Bay Florida? I don't think I can handle the job myself. Thanks.

Ask for an estimate on the specific job(s) you wish completed. When they come back, ask how they do the job and what type of parts they use (OEM, OEM-type, other). I chose my indie based on this feedback. Going in person helps alot since many callers are price shopping. Several shops have automated answering services and website forms (which they prefer). I found this very time efficient for myself since I could reach out to more shops (initially) outside of my work hours.
