I’ve owned my 63 for 3 months now and I absolutely love it. One thing that I do find annoying though is that it always shifts up at around 5600/5700 RPM, even at wide open throttle, in Sport Plus or Sport.
Could this be a maintenance issue causing this? It’s on 44k, and I don’t think it’s had new spark plugs, coils or a tranny service yet.
It feels very premature, and looses momentum as a result of the early gear changes.
Have you logged it?
do you have dragy stats?
tell us a ton more about the car as you've given us nothing helpful
is it modded
Whar dtc's or codes?
tcu tune?
have you done tcu reset aka "pedal dance"
what happens In M manual mode when you hold the gears?
what happens in kick down acceleration scenarios

Apologies, I should have been clearer from the start -
- Completely standard car
- No EML or other warning light illuminated
- ECO mode seems to stay on permanently, unless I switch that off manually
- Car is 43.5k, hasn't had a gearbox oil service yet, or new plugs/coils
- I haven't tried a TCU reset. I'd love to know how to perform this if anybody can provide info.
- Revs don't push any higher in manual mode vs auto / sport +
- Kick down on WOT, same scenario, pulls hard but tops out at 5700 region
- I'm not familiar with data logging and I don.t have any draggy times (again, any info on how to do this and where to buy the tech would be appreciated.
I'm planning on owning the car long term so it's key to get it right!
Eco mode on all the time, even in S and S+? If so that isn't normal...
If you're keeping the car long term, I highly recommend the $120-ish iCarsoft MBII scanner. It will scan the 'actual' ecu (vs just OBDII triggered codes, so you'll see pending stuff too) as well as the TCU. A great place to start, and will be useful for a bunch of other stuff down the road (like trans service and reading temps etc).
If it was my car, I'd buy the scanner first. And while I wait for it in the mail, pull the ECU connectors and check for oil. These cars can do very weird things when oil gets in the engine harness and it's a common issue (and very easy to check). Endless threads on that subject too!
I would recommend speaking to one of the UK independent tuning garages, I use MSL performance and they have always been excellent. Its also time to have the gearbox serviced and a new set of plugs by the sound of it so maybe you could do it all in one visit. Deffo worth trying the reset that has been linked above as well.
