Malfunction light popped up
Went for a first drive in my new to me e63. On the way home got the malfunction light with the up arrow. It’s my understanding that this has to do with the rear airmatic suspension? Anyways, by the time I pulled up into my subdivision, the error went away. It was on for about 3 minutes or so during the drive back. When I got out of the car, I thought I heard a hissing sound but tbh, I’ll have to drive it again to know for sure. Both sides of the vehicle appeared and still are level. I know that I need to scan for codes(working on buying a scanner), but what’s the most common failure or thing to check for first with this system? Quick and dirty research suggest the valve block?

totally normal... as the can bus gets energized by door opening it preps the car for driving by adjusting airtragic

Question regarding the functionality of airmatic. I set the car to its highest mode. Turned it off. Came back to it a few hours later and noticed that it’s 1” lower on both sides. Not dropping past that. Is this normal when the vehicle is off? Or is it supposed to hold at whatever the last setting was when vehicle was shut off?

Ride Height Malfunction
Hmmmmm........ Well , here is my 2 cents.(14' E63s)
Are the front suspension springs stock? (Black)
I immediately threw a Ride Height Malfunction after installing H&R lowering (sport) springs. ( mine are blue)
There are Ride height sensors connected to the front suspension. One on each side. The stock front suspension isn't adjustable . But the front height sensors are somehow linked to the self leveling headlights. After I installed the H&R's on the front I had to manually adjust my headlights to keep them from shining up into space. Lol.
Just be aware that when the Malfunction is present , the rear suspension may not adjust properly. I leave mine lowered 90% of the time, but I also have adjustable rear sensor links.
sorry that was more like 5 cents. : )

Passenger
ETA: driver side sensor bar is completely detached/broken off from the tie rod. This is probably my issue?!

Perhaps the sensor itself is damaged and needs that $140 replacement... you found smoke .. was there fire?

Alright so I finally got around to popping the sensor off of the vehicle. The part # is 0045429918. What's strange is that all the MB parts websites don't list the E63 AMG for fitment. They list the E550 and CLS63 but not the E63. Doesn't make sense. I should just go ahead and buy it correct?
