So I purchased a 2013 E63 in the summer, I have the car up on my lift to do trans service, and since I am "eye to eye" with the car I notice the headlights are not the same. They both have Hella logo, so not like one is a Aftermarket like Dorman.

Driver side has a matte grey finish on the inside and a chrome ring around the projector. Passenger side is chrome finish on the inside with a clear ring around projector. I am guessing this isn't normal, I think driver side is original and passenger side pust have been replaced. But there is also no collision evidence in the passenger side front end either
One may be from an e350 (chrome), the other one OEM (gray); it could have gotten paid for with cash to avoid reporting to carfax ... could have been replaced by owner after outsourcing part himself like from eBay. Definitely other work may have been done to that car -- check a paint meter reading on all panels
No other evidence of damage under the hood? Remove the plastic under tray and take a look to see if anything else was replaced.
Could just the headlight and possibly not even related to an accident. Could have been a rock toasting the lens. If it was a bulb or ballast I would expect that the housing would have been kept.
