Hello folks, got a question on replacing oil filter housing gasket. How do you guys get around these 2 Freon lines? Bolts to the housing and the oil cooler are both behind it. I've tried loosening the bracket, but it doesn't provide enough room for the torx wrench. Any idea or experience you have would be appreciated Last bolt to oil cooler is right behind freon line bracket last bolt to filter housing is behind freon line bracket
Merry Christmas and welcome to the forum. These are not the Freon lines, but rather the coolant lines to the left turbo. You will need to drain the coolant and remove them before you can get to the oil filter housing. These lines are fragile and tend to snap; therefore, consider the risk/cost of possible line replacement. Before getting on with the replacement, examine the source of leak carefully. The belt can spread oil and debris giving a false impression.
You will need to follow key MB articles on the subject AR18.20-P-3471ELB "Remove/install oil filter housing" and AR20.20-P-7440ELB "Remove/install coolant lines." There are other related ones, but you have already figured many steps on your own. Best of luck.
