Tuning 2015 E63s

With Rt, you can't do Catless DP and no, I will not have the ECU tinker with.
Maintenance is key and a full check over. Plugs, coil, fluid changes, trans fluid and filter, rear LSD fluid, etc. before any tuning happens.
If you really want to get a in depth health check, you can do a compression check on all cylinders and camera check.
Renntech tunes for the M157 run strong and clean! Most importantly, its a good healthy tune, IMO datalogs best out of all the tunes on pump.. Easy to flash and use via the HHT.
But you are limited to pump gas if you ever want to go to E85 or race gas in the future and no catless DP option.

BANG FOR BUCK:
https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/...-part-two.html
Things to do before a tune:
- replace coils and plugs - gap at 0.022 if you like but ok not to do so
- get car inspected by a good Indy that won't take you for a ride
- make sure your trans is working well including the MCT - no slipping or harsh shifting - shifting can get worse after a tune sometimes
- replace oil and service trans on schedule but at least a fresh oil change before the tune
- check your wire harness for oil leaks and oil creep from cps sensors and solenoids, check for oil at the ecu pins
- would be reasonable for the Indy to scope your cylinders during spark plug change
- data log your car BEFORE the tune and then AFTER
- dragy the car BEFORE the tune and then AFTER
- consider better tires or fresh tires
- pull all codes and DTC's with a good scanner and address any of these issues (iCarsoft scanner or xentry)
Tell us a bit about the car:
- are you the original owner?
- what's the history of the car?
- how do you drive the car? The harder your drive it the shorter it's lifespan (the m157)
- any major issue with it in your ownership?
- any major or unique issues with it on the carfax or based on dealer service records?
- if you have an extended warranty on the car you void major parts of your coverage with a tune
- how did you narrow it down to renntech and weistec?
Most importantly, you gotta pay to play. Push the limits on this engine and be prepared for any small or significant repairs. It just is what it is, but it's a thrill to drive a tuned E63.

I am third owner. I have extensive service records from the previous two owners and the car was serviced only at a Mercedes dealer with an awesome service history. No issues on the car previous to my ownership. The only thing ive had to replace are two coil packs and that is it.
I'm leaning more towards Renntech because I hear nothing but good things about their tunes/reliability, I like how I can just plug the HHT into my OBD and tune it with ease. Their plus tune is 669HP and 734TQ and their base tune is 638HP and 695TQ.
I would definitely change all of my plugs right after/before tuning.

after tuning it's wise to do coils and plugs every 10k miles.

According to mercedes it wasn't ok to tune it brand new.
you have to pay to play and you may have some misfires or issues that require big expenditures in repair with the worst case scenario being an engine replacement or trans issue.
MOST people with tuned m157's (across the brand) don't "apparently" have any issues with tuning however these cars are overturned several times in their ownership and people don't offer long term data therefore on tuned m157's. There is simply not a good empiric database of information on what you want to know about the true reliability of a tuned m157 engine. Someone appropriately described the m157 as a candle - the brighter it burns the quicker it goes out. It only makes sense that if you tune it, beat on it, you'll kill it sooner or later.
what is your break point? What's the most you would spend if you had a significant issue with your e63 after you tuned it (given that the tune was the issue)?
these m157's in stock format are costly enough with their occasional expensive repair quirks as is - in stock format!
whats your $$ number? I don't mind being that one guy on the forum to tell you not to do it if you're worried about a major repair or engine replacement. I enjoy this car tuned and am prepared to replace the engine in a heartbeat without coming back on this forum to complain about it when it does happen. I have e40, ams 93, ams 100, and stock tuned, tcu tune, black boost intake, IC always on mod, sprintbooster.
