I've had a rattle/clunk in the right rear of my 14' wagon for a while. I first thought it was the load floor or the rear seat backs but after taking a ride in the back seat it is coming from the right rear suspension. I got the car off the ground and inspected all the control arm bushings and they seem ok visually. It sounds to me like the rear shock upper mount. On non amg w212's the rear shock upper mount is sold separately and is a semi-common source of clunking. Before I go and change a 600.00 rear shock I was wondering if anyone on the forum has had a similar issue?

I replaced my rear driver side shock at 64k miles. $900 for a new replacement made me find one with 10k miles on eBay for $200.
CZ 75- I'm at +/- 64k too, also getting a bit of sticker shock and trolling ebay for a used unit...was yours making that same dull clunking over mildly lumpy roads?

I don’t recall it making any sound. What prompted me to replace it was that it was leaking fluid.Originally Posted by a1bray
