Has anyone noticed any difference in the added unsprung weight? I actually don't know what the difference is but I suspect it is several pounds. I am wondering, for me, if less unsprung weight for ride/handling is preferred since I do drive on unsmooth roads. Obviously the 390mm rotor has a looks advantage and must have a braking performance advantage but I'm not sure that I "need" either of those things. I suspect that the people who care about unsprung weight care less about looks and the people who care about looks don't really care about unsprung weight....
I also have the heavier base 10 spoke wheels, so there's that, too. I guess the ultimate upgrade would be to a lighter forged wheel (or the optional AMG one), but, uh, that would put the total upgrade at something like $5k.
My original 360mm rotors weighed exactly 30lbs. my 390mm 2 piece rotors weigh exactly 30lbs.
If your trying to lower unsprung weight, wheels are you best bet. My aftermarket wheels are 8-9lbs lighter EACH.
Even with $30 shipping it is still $100 cheaper to order from Rockauto, unless you really expect to use that lifetime warranty. I am not sure I have ever used the warranty on anything across three cars in 3 years.
