Looking to buy 2015 e63s but cannot find PPI
Hello, first post here.
I have found a 2015 e63s with 70k miles that I really like from an independent dealership, but I cannot find anyone in the area that can perform a PPI in a reasonable time! Mercedes Benz dealership is booked for 3 weeks. Local German cars shop for 2 weeks.
what would you do? Should I ask them to lift it and let me give it a look? I can look for leaks, and leaking sensors probably...but not much more. Any big item I can check by myself?
I have already considered buying Fidelity warranty on it, but I am worried that it may have problems that could deny the coverage.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I would walk. Never buy an m157 in a pressured situation. Take your time and do it right and have peace of mind at least. Find another car.
why do you think this car will sell before 2 weeks? Disregard sales tactics saying "so many people are calling about this car it'll go quick"
Check this out if you haven't already:

Agreed, wait on an inspection. Warranty may be useless if they claim pre existing conditions like oil leaks to deny coverage, you'll want current condition in writing from an inspection. 70k is kind of a sweet spot that the car should show how well it's been maintained when looked over by someone who knows them.

Thanks.
it is just that I am not sure if it's worth risking loosing the car for an inspection that I don't even know how accurate is going to be...but it makes sense that I should have something in writing for the warranty. The car is really beautiful, (almost) full optional, and I think reasonably priced. The next closest one is 200 miles away.
But they have called me twice a day since I contacted them, so I don't think there are too many people interested! :-D
I'll wait... thanks

1.listen to the engine start up
2.check transmission shifts
3.drive and test all modes and suspension setting
4. Max/full steer stop and while in motion under 50mph
5.look under carriage for any leaks. front diff seals should be leaking if not it was serviced or in a good condition
6.check for oil leak from front valve cover, it will drip down to the turbo if it’s heavg leakage or obviously sign of leakage around the cover will be evident.
7.Ask for VMI from dealership from VIN
8.even with PPI there is no 100% guarantee.
9.check for panel gaps and misalignment and bolts and nuts if it there is any sign of replacement.
10.
do your dilligence inspection

If the seller can't wait for You to find a ppi and there is another only 200 miles away. You may consider passing on it. I couldn't get any MB dealership to give Me VMI until I could prove ownership.

Mine is an M156, simpler, but a possible alternative for you if you can’t wait. I ran it to the Mercedes dealer who initially sold it and one of the staff pulled all the service records for me. First owner had all of his maintenance done at the selling dealer and there were no issues with the car.

Net net - any E63/W212 purchase I would absolutely pay for a compression test on that M157 motor otherwise you'll be driving off in a ticking time bomb

this is not the type of purchase you want to rush and not be super thorough about even if you buy a Fidelity 3rd party warranty. Check the W212 forum as there's a guy who was in your situation he rushed to buy a E63/W212 from a BMW dealer and never got a compression test or leak down test. He did the plugs from his indy guy who said the cylinders had significant scoring and the car was leaking oil from the exhaust too at the time of purchase. After about 1 year his motor blew and now he's haggling with Fidelity about what they will cover with his motor which they are paying something for on his claim, but the motor is super expensive and will cost him likely $10k additional out of pocket for the labor.

Having documentation such as a PPI is crucial for almost imediate warranty work on a vehicle like a an E63 AMG. We had a customer with-in 4 weeks of purchasing his S63 AMG have three engine mounts replaced under extended warranty; all documentation from when the vehicle was at the dealership had no mentions of the engine mounts, so they were replaced.

I would Google search pre-purchase inspection theres a few companies that should show up. Also some local mechanic shops do inspections search Yelp.

and you absolutely should do a compression test it’ll cost you two or $300 but it will save you thousands of dollars down the road. A full leak down is a little more time-consuming and costly to do but get the compression test. You won’t regret it.
