Found this car for sale on the internet. App. 133k mls, tuned to 700hp. As per the pictures, the front end looks pretty beat up, showing lot's of rock craters and paint peeled off.
Since the car is offered in Germany, it must have seen lot's of high speed fun. It didn't state an exchange engine or overhaul.
Maybe the M157 motor isn't that bad after all.
