Word of caution to anyone considering the CX1's from Brada for their W212 AMG
SubscribeBought a set a few months back for my 2012 E63 Wagon. They look great and fit perfect but unfortunately the fronts didn't even make it past 300 miles before they bent.
Now looking for another set of wheels if anyone has any good suggestions. I like the look/style of the Brada CX1's, I just need a set of wheels that will stay round.

So just normal driving caused them to bend?Quote:

Yeah. A few bumps in the road but nothing outrageous. The only place that car gets driven to is car shows and it's not being abused because I'm always trying to keep it clean. I think the AMG might just be too heavy for either that particular design or whatever material wheels are made out of. Love the look. Just wish they had some legit forged versions....Originally Posted by Ultrakla$$ic

What do you keep your tire pressure at? Mb highly recommends 40psi+ on these cars due to weight, also they want you to run XL load tires vs standard ones due to the weight of these cars.

I was watching a video on Youtube by RDB LA, these guys that work on high end cars and he was talking about buying anything but one piece forged wheels for the heavy Mercedes series cars due to bending of the wheels. I thought he was crazy but I guess not.Originally Posted by TR3B

Do Teslas bend their rims frequently?
they are heavy
they are low profile 21" often
they are not forged

Brada is a real stand up company. I posted a kindly worded message to their ad page that perhaps the CX1 wasn't suited to the weight of E63. Rather than contact me about the issue, they just deleted the post. They know but they're still going to sell them to you anyway.

What did they say when you contacted them directly after you identified the problem?
Quote:
The rep that sold me the wheels and assured me they would work is 'no longer with the company'. I have sent an email to let them know about the issue with no response and I posted the info in their thread. I might try calling them again - but talking to somebody isn't going to make the wheels not bend. At this point I don't really feel that compelled to put that much effort into it because it's not a problem with a solution beyond 'buy a different set of wheels'. I let them and the 212 AMG forum know. My work here is done.Originally Posted by PeterUbers

The only reason posted again today is that I get salty when people delete posts.

talking to someone may get you compensation for the rims, no? Why did you choose that company to purchase rims from - I don't know much about wheel companies - do these guys have a good rep?Originally Posted by TR3B

In their defense the wheels that were on it previously (Concavo) had a nearly identical style and bent easily. Maybe that particular type of wheel design just doesn't work on cars this heavy?

it's obviously entirely up to you, and you're not asking for any advice, but I would at least personally give it a couple more attempts at a phone call and talking to a real human being before I gave up on trying to get compensation or some type of response from the company that is supportive to my problem.Originally Posted by TR3B

Did you hit a pothole? is that how you bent the wheel? Repairable/repaired?
May not have happened at 45 psi.
I would still hope for a resolution with the issue.

Didn't hit anything noteworthy. Drove it to the same places I drive everything else.Originally Posted by thesaintusa

I haven't had them repaired yet. Not even sure I'm going to bother. I will let you know what happens.

@TR3B Pretty hard to bend a wheel without hitting a pothole or curb.
I would repair them, and then sell them to recoup some $$$ if you are going to something different. I have bent wheels before and have had them repaired with zero evidence of the repair. I usually use the 'repaired' set as winter wheels. Have sold them but have always advertised as the one wheel being repaired. That being said I have not been able to tell which wheel it was in the past.
Good luck.

I ran "REPLIKA" cheap $200/wheel winter wheels that looked like the OEM 10-spokes. I always had a rim on hand and when one would bend I would immediately order another one. I bent 1-2 every winter without fail; throw away and install spare. AND all the other 3 wheels always had little bends in them too but could balance and not vibrate. After bigger bends is when I'd replace the wheel. LOL.Originally Posted by Ultrakla$$ic

Cheap wheels get crushed by these cars.

Thanks for posting. There are tons of wheel options out there - unfortunately, it's up to us as a community to inform others when a certain brand or vendor is not meeting expectations or making things right.
