Rear brakes sqeeking
So for the the past 2 months I was getting some sqeeking from the passenger rear. Don't drive the car much, but enough to be annoying at low speeds. Thought it was the rear pads, took it apart, cleaned lubed, still present... Found the thread about the e brake sticking, took the side cover off by the drivers door, lubricated it and all, noise still present. So decided to remove the rear rotor and access the e brake assembly. Sure enough a spring that holds the shoes was broken off causing it to scrap against the inside of the rotor. Here are some pictures of the work, and the parts I ordered from Amazon. My car has only 36k, use the e brake when parking on inclines and such.
Remove wheel 17mm socket, remove 2 19mm bolts holding the caliper, no need to remove pads. Remove torx holding the rotor. Pull off rotor and inspect. Top is what the spring looks like mounted, bottom is missing because it broke off.
