You would be wrong. For instance, in what started this thread, the cop was QUITE upset I asked him his name and badge "for my camera". He stated "I have video, you dont need it" and my comment "I dont need to FOIA my video". The police do not like the option to not be recorded.

Some months ago I called the police day after day after day about homeless going into our building...the police did nothing. When I complained, a cop pulled me over and wrote me a bull**** ticket for not using my blinker pulling into the parking lot of my clinic.....finally the homeless got tired of being outside and came in, doing just over $800k in damage....most of the damaged cause by breaking water pipes and damaging medical equipment.

Back when I was in college in Maine, (1990’s) I had an interaction with some piggies, and I asked for their name and badge number to which they laughed and responded that they didn’t have badge numbers and why did I think this was a TV show. My response was, “no I come from a big city” I was arrested, and not guilty of any charges in the end. This same pig brain, then threatened to cut off my fingers in front of a bunch of people when I gave him the peace sign a few weeks later. my response very loudly was.” did you just publicly threaten me in front of all of these people for giving the peace sign?” at which point the pig drove away with his little corkscrew tail between his legs. Never heard from that scum again.

So I’m gonna have to agree with the above that people inclined to control and have a criminal mindset go into this line of work because where else could you go work being a C student failed baseball player jock with a criminal history?

My family supports the police, but don’t confuse that with trusting or relying on the police for anything. We have evolved as a society to need the police, we don’t need to defund them, we just need to make better choices of those that get hired, and fire, prosecute and cage the bad ones. If it were up to me, it would be a 100 X multiplier for every infraction from a government employee acting under the guise of protection.

I’ve also had two judges in court act like Judge Judy, one of them was then featured on 2020 for being crooked, and the other was censured. It really doesn’t leave much faith for the court systems at all. This is why I’ve not mentioned anything about ever suing the police, just reporting them and getting it on their paperwork so when they get too many blips, they can lose their retirement (saving tax dollars vs spending when winning suit) and go roll in the mud.

My old nextdoor neighbors (separated) husband was a judge in Illinois. He was a KNOWN drunk. All the cops knew his Jag and would let him leave the court - the bar across the street. He would then get in the Jag, go up two blocks buy a bottle at a liquor store and then continues another five blocks down the road to his home (in a very nice neighborhood).

Well, a buddy of mine was a newbie-State Trooper and he did not know the deal. He pulls over the judge.....the judge gets out of the Jag, cracks open the fresh bottle and starts to down it........"Prove I was drinking BEFORE you pulled me over".....charges were eventually dropped. The jail would not accept the "prisoner" as he was involved in the criminal cases of many of the current inmates......

Video used to be on YouTube, might still be, I cant find it. This was late 90's or early 2000's.

Wow! I've always had positive interactions with Police Officers. Ever since I cut my hair, stopped blasting death metal, and no longer have smoke pouring out the windows and beer cans on the floor it's been great. Nowadays I turn the vehicle off, roll down all windows, dome light on, hands at 10 and 2, and wait. I don't even get my ID ready. Yes sir No sir and ask permission to get my ID or do anything. I never speak or make up explanations or excuses, I just STFU and make any answers as short as possible. This seems to diffuse any attitude.

One time in the 90's I was making really (really) good time for a while on the interstate in Ohio. Around Ashtabula the "E" light came on so I pulled off to fuel up. As I'm pumping gas all of a sudden police cars, SUV's, slide to a stop around the gas station. I'm watching them, looking around with awe. It's like WTH is going on?! Then I hear yelling to lay on the ground, I'm still naively looking around pumping gas and it hit me. OH! They are talking to ME! I lay on the ground, got the knee to the neck, and the rest of that day erased ALL the good time I had made haha. Unknown to me they were trying to "get me" for a while. I was going so fast I never saw them except when thinking back, realized those weird disappearing puffs of dust every 10 minutes in the rearview were troopers U-turning through the median. Whoops. Even that interaction was OK after the rough start, I just had to be nice and sweat it out at the station until they finally let me leave after a cash deposit.

Our country can handle a share of dirty cops. But we cannot survive, as we know it, dirty judges, who won’t apply the law evenly and fairly, dispassionately, and without prejudice. For years, one party has been nominating and appointing judges who are otherwise. Once you are a judge, especially the lifetime positions, almost no one has the ability to police you.

[QUOTE=I.T. Guy;9024420] OH! They are talking to ME! /QUOTE]

About two years ago on a bike path....(yes, on a bike path)...as in bicycle.....well, I do NOT ride on bike paths if I can avoid it at all.

On the path they had the big "your speed is" sign (speed limit 20) on a slight downhill on the path. I see it...shot past at 28 (I know, not crazy fast). Away I go....a full six months later. Some idiot (his name is Kelly) who works for State of FL, at a Mountain Bike club meeting freaks the hell out "YOUR THE ONE!!!!!"....going on how I escaped arrest and eluded police fleeing a stop. I guess they even had an ATV after me.....he made some calls to "Get backup"...they never arrived. Yeah, cops are idiots.

That said, I am getting a TON of milage out of "You sounded like you were going sixty".....

At least he didn’t accuse you of doing the speed of “sound”. Because we all know what the speed of sound sounds like.

28 mph would probably get you ticketed if you were driving on I-70, but on a bike path (especially if it's shared with pedestrians) it's too fast. If you're in a bike lane adjacent to motor vehicles, go like hell if you wish to.

I concur. I've probably hit that speed going down a steep hill on my road bike. It was kinda scarry because a blowout at that speed was gonna hurt real bad! Hit a stick, rock, nail, animal, or person, would not be good. Still, the story of cops chasing in a golf cart sounds like something out of a National Lampoon movie.

Yep, I have never gone over 63mph on a road bike (in a race, that was at Ironman Lake Placid). Road racers have no business going even 20 on a shared path. Drives me nuts. If "traffic" scares them that much, get a freaking MTN bike.

My mountain biking days are over sadly. I live within about a mile driving distance to some of the most technical trails on the East Coast and used to come home bloody all the time, and even a broken finger once. Ahhhh, those were the days!
