MBH experience

My first time purchasing a product from MBH. I purchase a downpipes since the 4th of October and never received it until now. According to the information given after the payment, it will take 3 - 4 weeks before it ships out. I called and spoke with Mike exactly 4 weeks after the purchase and told me that it will ship out the following week. Since then, I've been calling and sending messages upon message without any response or updates.😡😡 My first time dealing with them. This is very frustrating. I just need my refund back at this time. It's 9 weeks today that I made the purchase. Anyone have this kind of experience with them?

I don't typically like to engage in these types of conversations but I think Vendor feedback is very important on forums both so the customer has a good understanding of expectations and so the Vendor can improve...should they care to do so.

That disclaimer aside, very honestly, I had a similar experience. Yes, I did eventually get what I had ordered (W204 C63 xpipe/resonator delete). Yes, the craftmanship is top notch and am very happy with the product. However, it did take several calls and according to my call logs I started calling beginning at about 8 weeks after my order was placed. Next call at about the 11 week mark, and final call at 12 week mark. Every time I called the phone was answered, and again the product is top notch, but the time it took to get them was much longer than expected.

Would I order from them again? Possibly, assuming I could wait. I understand that as consumers we want and have some accustomed to almost instant gratification when making purchases these days, but I also think a little patience needs to be exercised when dealing with small businesses that may not be scaled up to handle the amount of orders they get when they produce quality work. I suspect it is a fine line they walk in maintaining profitability when making hiring decisions and in all fairness, I have had similar experiences with other vendors (not here) who fab custom parts...so maybe my tolerance is a little higher for these things?

As a consumer, I understand the value of instant gratification however, what about communication, communication is free and why can't they just tell us realistically what the timeline would be, are people afraid the orders will get canceled?

I do alot of business with alot of parts producers and suppliers smaller and larger than MBH. Many of those are for custom made parts. The guys I do repeat business with are the guys who not just produce quality parts, but also either meet their own defined deadlines or communicate proactively if there are issues and delays.

Nothing is more frustrating than having to continually chase a vendor down for an order based on a promise they made. It's more than just an inconvenience to the consumer, it's a bad business practice. It's time lost, and sometimes money lost. In a few cases, it's a sign you might not even get your parts.

It's easy to conflate the artistic/craftsmanship based business with the fact that it's still a business. On one hand, there are companies that make PHENOMENAL one-off parts where they are so backlogged wait times are completely unpredictable. Usually those are smaller companies like Frontline Fabrication, for example, where the demand for his products greatly exceeded his ability to supply them. That's not always the case.

In your case, it's a question of whether you want to deal with the annoyance of a bad business practice. MBH is a reputable vendor to my knowledge, unless something has changed that I'm unaware of. I've used ther parts on an E55 previously and quality seemed ok.

Thank you guys for your input on this matter. I don't mind waiting, but be realistic about your time frame. 3 - 4 weeks has turned into 9 weeks without no follow up updates or call. No return messages, none. Frustrating. I've already missed out on the black Friday stg. 2 tune deal I was gonna get from weistec engineering now. If anyone have any other number I can reach them at beside the one posted on their website, please share. Thanks.

you're in the right, I think. If you want to go and another direction ask for a charge back to your credit card purchase with these guys

at the end of the day, I get that some people had a great experience or a decent or reasonable experience with this company, but all that matters really is your experience and your frustrations. It's not your problem if they have trouble with manufacturing or meeting deadlines, it is their problem to get the product that you paid for in full to the customer and if they're not able to do that, they need to reasonably and immediately just communicate to you and communication is absolutely free and it's absolutely the right thing to do professionally and ethically.

if anybody disagrees with me, I'm open to discussion

That's part of the messages I sent without any response.😡

I believe in there product. I was gonna get a long tube headers from them when I still have my E55, but went another route. And that's why I decided to go with them for the downpipes. Product might be top notch, but it looks like customer service is poor. Sorry to say. Already regretting my decision. Would have gone with redstar probably.

maybe this is a blessing in disguise, what if you get the product and there's some quality issue or a fitment issue, how the hell would you ever get a hold of these people?

As disappointing as it may seem, as Peter said this is a blessing in disguise. COMMUNICATION IS FREE, had they been open and honest you wouldn’t be making a post.

No matter how great the quality of a product, the vendor absolutely needs to be truthful in terms of their wait time. If someone is truly a master of their craft, they should also have a good concept of how long it'd take for their customer to receive their product. At the very least they should pick up the phone and/or reply to emails.

Thank you. Exactly what I expected from a reputable vendor. And yes, I started this post because I was dissatisfied with their customer's service so far. Never used their products, but have heard good things about their products.

Glad to announce that my downpipes finally arrived yesterday. Of course, product is of quality. No doubt about that. Since October 4 that I placed the order. They just need to improve in there promise delivery date. I don't mind the wait, but customer comes first. They are lacking in that area. Thank you all for the inputs.
