Carbon Fiber Diffuser / Exhaust Setup

If there are only one thing I’d mod or change to our beautiful e63 would be the exhaust tip’s aren’t attached to the pipe themselves.

I’ve added some pictures as a reference and hope you’d pitch in as to what your opinions are.

I’m looking to pull out stock diffuser parts and put in CF diffuser than fabricate the exhaust tips to be attached and extended half an inch out from the diffuser. Shown in picture that’s a not sticking out rather stuck 1” inside the diffuser. The tips in consideration are the tips shown in picture or 4-5” dual tips

people normally have been putting in fake brabus tips that usually is sold with that particular diffuser. Although it pains me to install a china/taiwan made cf diffuser to the car, it’s justifiable for the tips for me.

what are your thoughts?

Part of the advantage of them not being attached to the exhaust tips is because the mufflers expand and contract and when they get hot, they'll stick out further than when they are cold.

Additionally, another advantage is that if they are attached to the mufflers, the heat will transmit more easily to the exhaust tips and potentially cause thermal damage to the surrounding diffuser

This dude is just full o' wisdom! Your points never even crossed my mind.

To OP: Personally, I am not partial to that diffuser and those tips; too "race car" for me. If I were to go the "fab" route, I'd go classic with round tips =>

I love the way this member did his exhaust (Id not go straight piped though). I am not a huge fan of the diffuser he went with either.

very nice!
Those new tips should’ve been installed from factory. So much better than older tips that are on all the cars.

Where are those tips from? And how do I I go about sourcing a pair for myself?
