E63s deliveries in North America?

mtwoi,
Out of curiosity, why did you decide to change from the M5 to E Class? How was the reliability of the M5? That has been my concern with BMW. I am not trying to change the subject, but I just want your opinion as a recent owner.

go fast grocery getter wagon
^ I had a 13 M5 (for about 2 yrs. First year of production run). It was a big disappointment to me, major oil consumption issue, very harsh ride, squeaky brakes (well I know bbk does have this issue). My expectation was really high at the time on how a M5 would have been but it did not turn out the way they advertised as.
I have just ordered a wagon. production is set for August and delivery sometimes late October (if there are no surprises)

By contrast I have had more warranty claims on my wife's Mercedes W205 - AC issue, ECU glitch, and also the touch pad failing.

I am switching for several reasons. My lease is up and there are no comparable updated 5 series BMW's available . The M550i is just being rolled out and the M5 is likely a year away. I lease cars and am not a fan of switching into a nearly identical vehicle in terms of getting the last of the old M5's. The M550i appears to be a fine car however I was just ready for a change. I have a '14 M5 with Competition pack. Reliability was great. Not a single problem until a month ago when the drivers side door lock motor stopped working. Will be a warrantied repair. Had a 550i before that which was also trouble free for 3 years.

For the European delivery, I guess they have to drill holes in the front pumper to accommodate the elongated European style license plate?
Do they correct this upon delivery?

2018 E63S AMG
Good question. When I was looking over the E63 at a dealer in Geneva a couple weeks ago, I did look a little more closely at the rear to see how well the taller US plates would fit, but didn't actually look at the mounting holes.
Didn't really pay attention to the front plates because in California we don't have to wear them. Well, maybe we're technically supposed to, but a lot of people don't - I've never been bothered about it except one time when I backed in my truck in a airport parking lot and they didn't like that they couldn't see the plates.
Looking more carefully at some photos online, it looks like the plates get mounted to a holder, which hopefully uses the same mounting holes for both the Euro and US mounting brackets.
But, for the discount I get doing European delivery, I suppose I could live with a couple extra little hole if that ends up being the case - maybe I'll attach a couple of spinners

In this video, this guy mentioned that we can get a certificate to get one day of AMG academic to learn abt the drift mode from purchasing the E63S? Anybody heard of anything like such?

Update on my order. Waiting to hear a firm date on the delivery. When the dealer input the order for European delivery, the system would not allow a date sooner than late fall.
Order is in and being processed, but dealer is hopeful that an earlier window can be arranged. But it is what it is. After waiting over a year for the car I guess I can wait a few more months.
Still don't have pricing, but hoping that it will be ballpark near that of previous years plus a small delta.

E63s delivery in Toronto
Hey, so my E63s is on the water on the Wallenius Manon vehicle carrier about a day west of England towards Halifax in the North Atlantic. Supposed to land in Halifax on the 30th and at the dealership in Toronto on June 3. Ordered December 9. I hope to post some pictures. Cheers.

My car is built and at the port waiting to be loaded on a ship. Yesterday, I stopped by my dealer when the AMG rep was training them on the E63S. He said he "hopes" the car will be released in the US during the week of June 19th. 🤞

Did they have an E63s at the dealership for the training that you could view?

Well, actually there was an E63 (non-S) with Illinois manufacturer plates. I asked what the story was. I was told the rest of the training cars are Ss but this one isn't. I was told it will be crushed when they are done. It was Cardinal Red, carbon exterior and interior.

I may call the Dallas dealerships and see if they have any of them for viewing.

The interior seemed like any other current E-class. The front end of the car is the biggest difference. The fender flaring and the hood bulges are nice touches. 29 of the 46 mm of increased length vs the E43 is from the front axle forward. It looks like the front is more than 29mm longer. I would have guessed three inches longer before I looked at the specs.
The emblem which is usually on the hood is on a flat piece of the body in front of the hood. The front looks longer and more aggressive. I like it, but it is a bigger difference than I expected.
