This was my choice as well - E63 or Panamera. However, I wanted to keep the price in the 120-130 range. Thus, I could get the top of the line E, or the bottom/middle Panamera (would've gotten the 4 or 4S Sport Turismo). Going with the E.

That’s how I decided on E63S as well

I was invited to a Porsche event last week where we got to drive the 4s around town and on track. I have to say the car really surprised me, the sheer size and weight disappears when you’re behind the wheel.

For the reasons cited above I’m leaning towards the W213 E63. That and the brute force that it’s known for, I just hope I can say the same about the size/weight disappearing behind the wheel.

My one worry is that the E63 won’t feel as nimble as say a BMW or Porsche product

but Chris Harris says the new E63 handles like a M car now

That's exactly the opposite feeling I had when driving the 4 and 4S. They never seemed anything less than massive to me. Yes, they can boogie. But I always felt like a giant cat prowling along the road.

BMW stopped producing driver's cars when the F- series came out. They're lifeless luxo-barges with superficial "sporty" treatment to target the crowd who wants a more aggressive looking Lexus now.

This wait for my Edition 1, has me seriously considering a Panamera Turbo. The Bay Area has a few 2017s that they are offering at 12-13% off sticker. A nicely loaded Turbo is about $170ish sticker and with the discount I could get it now for about $15k more than the Edition 1.

Also, avoided paying another $A170K for the Panamera which would have lost $100K the moment I drove it off the yard! The irony was my Mrs really loved the current Panamera and had encouraged me into ordering it.

Totally agree. I was 90's BMW fanatic, but they lost me in the early 2000's when I bought my SL55. Still to this day so uninspiring inside and nothing to look at outside. A good friend of mine who used to work in motoring tv production had up until this year been a total M series loyalist, despite never owning any, but now has eschewed the M4 for the C63s coupe..

I used to really like how I could step into a base model, non-M BMW and find a car that was decently engaging to drive.
