On my car I always smell a slight scent of anti freeze from under the hood but I can't seem to find any leaks, no spots under the car either. Hopefully a stone has not hit something already and caused a tiny leak. I should get it checked out I guess at the dealer, I can't find anything with it.

Not sure but I bet we could post something here and get about 100 plus complaints forwarded to the executive team. The issue however is that I noticed the AMG GT 4 door has the same design and then I looked and the gtr was the same, so I’m not sure but there may be a lot of cars in the lineup with this issue and there’s no way they are recalling all of them.
Similar issue with the Porsche GT3–was escalated by enough owners for Porsche to design an OEM mesh covering and issue a recall to install.
Would MB be as proactive if enough complaints were raised?

I have great news for people waiting on a mesh grille for the w213 E63. I contacted the guys over at Zunsports who make excellent clip on protection for (mainly) 911s and they've already got their hands on a E63 and are developing a solution that should be ready to ship at the end of may. They do excellent work and I had no issues with the 911 grilles I've bought from them. Here's a pic of my 911 GTS after I installed the Zunsport grille last year.
Good news about the clip ons. I was very unlucky to have mine busted at 700 miles in first week. Then I went to dealer to pick up today (quoted end of day Tues), and I apparently got pushed over and now told Fri... Lol.. A $2500 repair is a downer. Its already eating from my ecu tune, downpipes, escort 360 budget.. ;-/
Ya, that sucks. I don't think Benz is planning on doing anything about this issue. I've really put up a argument about it at both the dealer I bought my car from and Mercedes Corporate and they did not seem to take it seriously. At least I have a temporary fix now until the professional screens come out.
Earlier in this thread there was a guy who visited Zunsport. I didn't see any followup so I wrote Zunsport. Peter Langston answered me and said that aftermarket grills would be available for the E63S on May 25th. Thanks to the original visitor to Zunsport, you made this happen!
No removal required. There are flexible metal tabs that hold it in place on the bumper edges and metal brackets that crimp tight that you use for fairings etc. The whole install on my 911 took me 30 mins and thats on a considerably more complicated vent setup. I think the E63 has only the two side intakes with only one horizontal fairing in each. Probably 10 mins total. The total cost was ~$350 i think and the only unusual thing was that I needed to fill out a customs declaration (no money charged) on FedEx (these ship from the UK in ~3 days).
Finished up with my plastic shields today. Does not look the greatest with the way the wire holds them on, but it's temporary for now until I either come up with a better less noticeable solution to fix them on or just get the other ones coming out at the end of May. I just felt I needed something as I'm about to do a long trip within a couple of weeks and did not want any damage or get stranded somewhere. I guess I subconsciously did not spend as much time on these as I normally would as I'm not really happy about even having to do this, the car should come with covers similar like these like the C63 AMG does. I have the feeling it might have to do with that the E63 requires even more cooling than the C63 as it's the same 4.0 but the E63 is pushing out an extra 100 hp over the C63. I drove around some and the car is still running around 174 water temp and 207 degree oil temp even when I push the car a little bit so think I'm good to go with these. I'll leave the dynamic screen on and keep on eye on the temps on hotter days and different driving situations. I can't see these making much of a difference in air flow.

Did you only do the sides? Any concern with the center?
I'm mainly concerned about the intercoolers as they are so large and just out there. I'm not really hearing issues with the center part which I guess is the a/c condensor, it's possible it could get taken out, but the slot on the low side is fairly narrow, plus I don't have enough length in the material I have to do the center. What I'm going to do is take some black touch up paint to my silver wire holding the pieces on and it should look much better. I was not crazy about doing it this way, but I'm forced to work with one arm from a wheelchair and I cant get down to the ground. Had I been able to sit on the ground and use both arms I'm sure I could have rigged up a much better hold system.
I used black touch up paint with the small brush to paint the silver wire I used, looks much better now. I think I'll just leave these on. Total time about an hour and a half. I used the cardboard from the box the material came in to make a template originally, simply eyed it up and cut a piece a little bigger and then held it up and trimmed it down with scissors until it was just right. I used snips to cut the Grill material, very easy. Very easy to duplicate the second piece, you just hold the original one over the material sheet and snip it in the same spots so you get a carbon copy duplicate. Here's pictures on either side. I like the idea of using the wire as it should stand up well. I thought about black electrical ties, but those will break sooner or later from the weather or from the heat. No difference in operating temperatures with the car. The black touch up paint applied over the wire was key in getting these things to look factory, only took about 5 minutes applying the paint with the little brush to the wires. So for a total of $45.00 or so and a hour and half labor I've got some decent protectors.

One of the really good things these protectors will do will be stop the bigger stuff from getting in there like leaves or other debris on the highway. I could not believe all the leaves that got in there driving the car the short time I did in New England Last fall. It was a project that was well worth the $45 bucks and hour and half of my time. Odds are pretty good too if a small stone does kick up it will hit the edge of one of the screens and keep it from doing damage, we shall see on that one. Maybe if there is damage done the dealer will see I made a effort to protect the intercoolers and give me a half off discount on a new intercooler
I approached a shop and they said they can custom one for my s63. They're not sure if they will design one that will fit behind or in front of the vertical line or if the bumper has to come off to do a cleaner install. This includes the center splitter and both side air dams.
I'd just do it yourself if I were you. Chances are a shop would want 300 bucks or so for the same thing I did with one hand from a wheelchair The black touchup paint over the wire was a really good idea and nobody is gonna notice that these shields are not factory at this point. The wire I used was a stiff wire. Wire that is too flexible might be harder to run around the back of the existing grill to hold these shields on. I simply took some pliers and kept twisting the wire until it tightened down on the grill. But don't get it too tight you will either break the wire or crack the plastic on the grill. I have the feeling these type of grills block air flow less than screen, even a larger mesh screen. Regular screen like the type used in screen windows would definitely be a no no as that would block a lot of airflow for sure. I'm sure every year or so I will have to remove these and rewire them to clean out debris which will still get in there.
Looks like there will be enough on that sheet I got on Amazon to do the lower center part of the grill. Held it up today to see. I'll have a friend help me with that center, it is kinda low for me to work on.
I'm having have my local body shop add protective mesh over the intercooler rads. They tell me it is common for customers of high-performance cars to ask to retrofit this and they have done it a ton of times. I need to get my bumper fix due to hitting a parking stop which was weird because I only notice the impact when I moved away so I think the car lowered once the car stops running. So while they are working in that area will take the opportunity to get it done. I'll post picture and cost once done.
Ya, I think thats what happened with my S550. I parked over a curb in miami a couple months ago and everything was fine, then the next morning when I backed out it tore off the front spoiler, cost $650 to fix at the dealer.
He sounded like he thought the dealer was going to cover it, they are no more likely to cover the intercooler than they are the cracked windshield he has on the car. Those intercoolers on the AMG GT's are identical to ours, same poor design.
