Splash guards [mud flaps]

Since there are no 2018 E63s AMG splash guards available from Mercedes I decided to do something to keep the side of my car scratch free.

Pep Boys have a few different mud flaps to choose from, so far these will fit the job with a little massaging from a heat gun.
I only needed to drill one hole in the fender liner for a spring nut and place two at the bottom after removing the plastic fasteners..
I'll post up the finished project...when I finish

Good idea, great for people who live in snow areas.

To be honest it is a necessity if you want to preserve your paint.
I checked my car and there are small scratches along the rocker panel after a few canyon drives.
The body does not cover the tire tread enough both front and rear to prevent road dirt from sand blasting the rocker panels.
If you drive your car without splash guards you will have paint damage shortly and even clear bra will pit and rock chips will go through over time no matter what they tell you.

This is great... I will be using your guidance when I get my wagon. I had installed guards f/r on my last V70R, which made a huge difference.

I've finished the fronts and like the way they turned out at a cost of $30.00 total.
Tire tread is completely covered and they are low enough to keep most of the car's rocker panel protected.
I'll wash the car and take it for a canyon cruise today and see how it goes...

Looks great, maybe you don't even need the ones on the rear, looks pretty good as it is and the rears may not need them.

ronin amg, have you noticed any ride noise with the mud flaps? i saw a video somewhere where AMG addressed this issue of splash guards on a particular model and how they tried to optimized the air flow and reduce the drag and noise at high speeds :

They are rubber and make no sound from gravel... If anyone is going fast enough in a wagon to be concerned about mud flaps' effect on aero in a 4,700 lb. wagon, walk away..
