W213 E63S Wagon
I know this is an old thread, but I had a quick question for you guys, but wanted to first give a little background.
I have a 2020 E63S wagon and recently my car threw the dreaded "Malfunction Drive at Max 50 mph" code. Took it to my dealer and they replaced the valve block, compressor and relay for the air suspension. Stated that water was getting into the lines. After picking up the car, noticed it would make a horrible droning/humming/vibrating/whirring noise from the rear at low speed between 1200-1800 rpm. Took it back to the dealer and they said it was a loose "spring" in the compressor. They "fixed" it. Got the car back, but the damn noise was still there. Took it in again! Now the shop foreman works on my car and diagnosed worn bushings for the compressor! The car is less than 1 year old and they just replaced the compressor so this seems like a lot of bullsh*t to me at this point.

Got the car back yesterday, and the noise is gone while driving, however, my compressor now makes that noise when I press the raise button. It almost sounds like one of those electric tire compressors/inflators that you use for emergencies or for your bicycles. The noise is sustained the whole time the car is raised. It stops once I hit the raise button again to lower the car back to normal ride height.

Finally my question is...does your compressor make noise when you press the button to raise your car?

I don't think it ever made that noise before and I use the raise button pretty often when I go in and out of driveways.

Sorry for being so long winded...just wanted to give some background info so you guys can share your thoughts on diagnosing the problem. If yours makes noise too then I guess all is good and I just never paid attention before.

Thank you in advance!

Mine makes no audible noise in the car interior. Even from the outside, there is hardly any noise, and certainly not a tire compressor/inflator type noise.

Bumping an old post so I don't make another. I want to use this function tomorrow for the tire guys so they have clearance to remove my wheels. My car is a 2018 edition 1, so I'd just hit the button once as I'm pulling on the shop and wait a few seconds, then while the car is off for the next hour it'll stay at the raised height? Then when I turn on the car again it'll still be selected so I press the button again and drive away and it'll be normal comfort height again?

Edit : nevermind, I was just thinking it won't even matter since when the car is on jack stands the wheels will dangle low below the fender. I'm still curious if it'll stay up with the car ofd though, ot would be helpful for them to fit a jack under the car when it's up like that.
