just got my 2018 E63s. I am going on my 3rd E63 now and I’m just saying.....I’m a bit dissapointed.

The car looks amazing inside and out but the ride is a bit stiffer then I hoped.

I also opted for the acoustic comfort package and performance exhaust options.

I feel that from inside this car, you barley hear the exhaust. Coming out of an AMG gt which yells like an animal, this e63 is too subtle....... it makes you crave a simulated sound inside the cabin (is this even possible on these cars, artificial speaker played exhaust sounds?). Anyone else feel like there is barley any exhaust roar heard from the inside cabin when driving at low rpms, it would be nice to hear some more exhaust sounds while driving at low rpms.

Additionally im having a terrible viration sound / rattle coming from my passenger side, this rattle is only heard over rough roads and is driving me nuts. Anyone exeriencing this too?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated here !

Congrats on your new E63s. I am new to this board and just took delivery of my E63s this week (previously had a 2016 C63S). I really love the car overall but I do also have a few annoying rattles. One is above the drivers head to the left, one is from the passenger door and the other is from the rear center console. None are too severe but they really bug the crap out of me. I have the sport exhaust as well but not the acustic package. The exhaust is definitely quieter at startup vs. my C63S but overall I like it. I have only driven in comfort mode so far due to break in procedure so I suspect in sport + with spirited driving the exhaust note will be more prominent. The only other complaint I have is that my hud image is slighter slanted. I have tried adjusting up and down but that does not help. There seems to be no tilt adjustment feature like some of the other cars I have owned.

On the passenger side rattle, check to ensure the seat belt buckle is not hitting the seat itself....I have the performance seats, so this was one loud. The thin plastic over the HUD projector on driver side was also rattling.

hmmm, I believe Car and Driver are the only people saying that it pumps sound through the speakers.
Guess I can yank some fuses to test it out today. but I highly doubt it

I'd be careful with pulling fuses, not a good idea imo. Looking back on it I wish I'd not ordered the acoustic comfort package and ordered the night package. Yes, I agree with the acoustic comfort package the car is lot louder on the outside than the inside. I guess I got lucky because my car has no rattles. But ya, sounds like it could be the seat belt hitting or something like that. Congrats on the new car!!! I think from what I've seen the only time the sound is pumped in through the speakers is in Sport plus mode or Race mode. In those modes when you're going fast the car does sound kind of beastly, so fear not once you get the car broken in and you're able to drive the car more like it was meant to be driven I think you will like the sound better. At low RPMs though some of it because of the acoustic package you're not gonna hear much, feels like I have cotton in my ears at lower rpms lol.

hehe, no i won't just pull them all. I have the fuse map and will read through to find the ones that would apply.
That said. It took me hours to find out where the fuse map is. ** Hint it is not in the Manual or under the fuse covers.

Its in the trunk "passenger side" under the big felt cover, to the left of the fusebox - its a folded piece of paper that you have to slide out

We did try turning off and on the infotainment center while driving but heard no change in exhaust note. We do have the acoustic package.

I bought some 4" wide black felt strips a while ago to place on the side where the seat buckle hits the "Sports Seats" Solved the problem for $9 and I still have loads left for other annoying rattles I might find.

I live in the Bay Area, "Extreme summer heat = 79"
But for the sake of science, I shall grab the wife's hair dryer and test the outcome. (PS setting 2 will be used and no seats will be harmed in this experiment)

Thanks for the feedback guys,
The rattle sounds like a vibration sound coming from passenger seatbelt or door panel. It is only heard on rough roads, causing the most annoying sounds.
It was not the seatbelt hitting the seat as I dont have performance seats. Id hate to bring this car to a dealer and lose it for a week, only for them to tell me they cant find it. Im going nuts.

Also the exhaust on this car does not feel like an AMG, its tooooo quite in any of the modes. I kind of wish the cabin had simulated sound from the speakers as i want some roaring at low rpms too.

One of the guys had a workaround to getting more exhaust sound into the cabin - open one or more of the rear seats.

So, if you find the exhaust note quite quiet, give that a try.

just an update, hair dryer did not melt the glue so it looks like it would hold up so far without it melting in heat

I have had a lot of loud AMG's and still do: C63S, C63BS and this car is just as loud from the outside but with the acoustic package I see where some of the interior noise is deadened. After getting under the car, there really isnt much in regards to restriction outside of the OEM cans. An easy way to gain sound will be via DP's as the post cats are buried up against them and you might as well do the full job if you are gonna pull the PC's.

Under WOT the E63S is very loud with the performance exhaust as indicated in the VIR Lightning Lap DB tests; it test the loudest of all cars in the test areas. So its loud, but probably not as loud inside.

Here are the VIR tests results:

I thought this car did have simulated sounds from the speakers on the inside of the cabin?

I just read Car&Driver say it’s pumping sound through the speakers as well. I pulled the fuses in the amp and I did not hear any difference inside. I might just place phone is the same spot -record audio and do a version with the fuse removed. Iyou can hear it clearly in the BMW.

We tried it with the sound system on and off as well and recorded both. During playback no one could hear any difference.

I really don't think it is feeding back any audio into the cabin through the speaker system as I had people sitting in all corners front and rear listening to it and the consensus was no, nothing coming from the speakers.

my thoughts exactly. Wasn’t it C&D that talked about the AMG GTR using Corvette tires to be fast and they had to pull that story off their site?

I like their numbers though

i just took delivery of a 2019 e63s and i'm delighted except for the same rattles at low speeds. Is there a cure or do we have to live with it?
