How fast is he going?

 

I'm a huge fan of spirited driving with my past ownership ( Mustangs, Miata's, Subaru's, etc ), so in general just finding decent videos of AMG wagons on YouTube was a challenge, so seeing this AND a canyon AND a wagon made me extremely happy. So does his mustache.

From what I can tell, cornering around 50mph, and upwards of that in the straights. From videos I've seen, 2nd gear tends to top out around 60mph, and you can see to the left of the main gauge ( speed is blurred out ) what gear he's in.

Basically fast enough that a Miata or S2000 owner is going to first go "wtf" and then " OH HELL YEA!" esp considering how this is downhill. I wonder if he has CCB's.

That's the beauty of some of these canyon or mountain roads in So Cal. You can have a lot of fun and pull nice Gs or fractions thereof without going too fast.

I cut out some of the video. I mostly wanted to show the part where I record the speeds and we take a dip over a small hill at that speed.

Not bashing the e63 video but I promise.....most people with average driving skill can do that

I can't see which data you have showing on the left, I think it's just boost and power like that on your right. But, does that screen also show you engine oil and transmission fluid temps? I'm curious to the range you saw during that.

I am still under 3500 kms and so have not done a diff fluid change yet and have not driven overly spirited. But want to get an idea of where we should expected upper operating temps to live.

I posted my original video to show people how well the E63s wagon handles in the canyons not to say look at me see how fast I can drive with total disregard for anyone else on the road... I never cross the centerline, that's how chumps and kids drive because they are too freakin stupid to know better.
Yeah and there it is the expected response from a fool too stupid to know the difference between being reckless on the street and driving on a track.
I hope I pissed you off and **** off anyone else that thinks you and your braindead friends are cool. I see drivers like you and your friend dead or wishing they were dead almost every weekend in the canyons.
Cross the centerline and you put everyone on the road in danger, if you can't stay in your own lane stop and check your car for a malfunction, if it checks out then the problem is you..fool

The road is not a race track to impress your brain dead friends..

I have driven in the canyons for 40 yrs. and anticipate **** to happen around every blind corner but even experience can not always prevent **** from happening.
The reality is that it can happen to anyone. It caught up to me after 40 yrs.

Here is a blind corner I've driven around a thousand times over the years at speed..



And here is the exact same corner while doing only 45 mph while filming for a documentary. I had to ditch to the inside in order to not have my head taken off by a forest service fire truck bumper [you can see just above and forward of the rear wheel] while they were driving over the centerline around that corner..
Loose sand on the road surface due to recent Santa Anna winds meant zero grip for the front tires..




I was so damn lucky my reaction time saved me from a head on but my custom design and built Rs211 was totaled when it hit the mountainside and spun a 360* missing the front of the firetruck.
For some unknown reason I got out without a scratch. It could have been so much worse..




Only brain dead fools think you or your friend's driving is cool.

If you don't learn from others experience you will die, just don't do it on my favorite roads. I hate waiting for the mop up crew to remove remains and hose down the blood on the road..

 

I see 215*f oil and 195*f diff when I'm brave enough to look down..
