If you say so. I had 8 (if you count the S63TU variation in the X5M) from 2011 through 2016: 2 x F10 550 xDrives, 3 x F10 M5s, 2 x F06 M6 GCs and an X5M. I know some folks had issues--when you sell that many of something, that tends to happen--but in well over 200,000 miles across those 8 vehicles, I experienced nothing that would indicate a design flaw or systemic issue. I'm not saying the cars/engines were perfect but I don't understand why you label them as 'plagued',

Yep, 3 S63tu's here and no diseases as well... alot of internet reading leads to conclusions. Proof is in the r/o's at the dealerships across the country (I have some intel over the years working with the factory data) over the period of inception and in reality its just not the case.
And Ill say the same for the E63S issues that people read here, the bad news is always remembered and travels faster but the forum ownership represents a microcosm of the true volume of the cars sold along with the problems.

With an average of 25K miles per car, not sure how much you can really say about reliability/durability, and even with so little use, you said they weren't perfect (burned oil?)

I don't really care one bit how reliable that car continues to be for the 2nd, 3rd or 5th owner of it, way beyond the factory warranty anyway.
Daily drivers are disposables, no matter how good or desirable they are.

I had no issues with burning oil.

My wife’s X5 twin turbo v8 is 3 years old and has burnt oil from day one. My old V10 M6 went through oil as well. Service level at BMW has dropped big time...loaners only offered for certain services etc. That being said I may be swayed by the M8......we shall see.

Ive read so many complaints about the s63TU having issues with oil, another factor is the internals being cast, the engines rods and other internals dont seem to hold up as reliably as the AMG motors when tuning them for more power. Many who plan to mod should also take this into consideration.

My '13 M5 was going through a quart of oil every 1500 miles. Owned 2 M157 AMG's didn't burn a single drop.

Time bomb... be glad you parted with it. Incredible sounding engine but it's a $10,000 bill waiting to come due.

The M5 Comp is a faster car than the E63s, no doubt.
It's the newer car and BMW was able to fine-tune against the existing benchmark. I expect that Audi does the same for the next RS7. That's progress...
Likewise I expect that the face lifted E63s will be faster than the M5 comp.
To me the M5 is an alternative, perhaps the M8 as we really don't need a sedan. The M5 is a bit more versatile and softer in comfort mode (which my wife appreciates), is highly tunable, cheaper and wicked fast as-is.
The brain says it's a great package but when comparing the M5 with our Edition 1 E63s I just like the MB better from all angles with its Night Black Magno that's just stunning in the sun, a better looking interior and much better soundtrack.
