Starting to regret not ordering the Sports Seats, hate the multi-contour seats

Recently purchased a 2018 Mercedes Benz E63S AMG with the multi contour front seats. I couldn’t decide between the AMG sport seats and the multi contour massaging seats. My dealer pushed me towards the multi contour seats. This is my seventh E63 in a row and I was excited to have the same massaging seats as the S class finally. After driving 1,000 miles in the new car, I have to say that the multi contour seat in my car are uncomfortable. I am 6’2 and my legs feel cramped after an hour drive. I feel like the seats are shorter then the previous model seats, and after visiting my dealer and siting in a recent E63S arrival that had sport seats, I immediately felt a lot more comfortable as I felt like the sports seat were bigger, longer and provided more leg support. I love my car and would hate to sell it just because of the seats but if the seats continue to be uncomfortable I might not have a choice. I was thinking of writing a complaint to Mercedes Benz North America about my experience and see if it would be possible to have the seats switched out. Has anyone experienced anything similar with the multi contour seats?

I assume that you have extended the seat bottom for increased thigh support.

Yes but still causing leg cramps. It’s like the seat isn’t long enough compared to my old 2014 E63S.

I found that tilting up the bottom cushion a bit and bringing the back a bit more vertical is optimum for me.

Does anyone know the seat dimensions of the multi contour seats vs the sports seats?

I have the Sport Seats and love the look but I'm afraid that the bolster is going to wear quickly from entry and exiting. I may go to the interior shop this week to see if we can devise a solution to protect the seats. We drove from Miami to Jupiter roundtrip yesterday and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised that I'm able to walk today. It was almost 4 hours driving in total (200 miles) with only an hour or two in-between changing directions. I have back issues that make long distance driving uncomfortable for me but the Sport Seats are really firm which seems to have helped.

I love the performance seats I have in the edition one. I’ve done several 3 hour drives and love the support in spirited driving, good thigh extension

I drove coast to coast from the DC area to San Diego over the span of a few days in the multi-contour seats and I found them quite comfortable.

I’m a couple inches under 6’2” so maybe that has something to do with it. I did adjust the seat up and down and extend the front and tilt them and so on. Also used the massage feature. More than 10 hours at a stretch on several occasions.

Haven’t had a chance to try the performance sport seats so cannot compare them.

I’m happy with my seats so maybe I’m Goldilocks.

Interesting, I got 10k off of my car since the original owner's wife did not like the Performance seats. After 2000 miles his wife made him return the car.

Should have replaced the wife with a girlfriend.

I have read and seen reviews that multi-contour seats are much more comfortable for long drives, but I know the performance seats will be better for some.
I had Kevlar seats on my Track car and loved them but on long days I did lose circulation in my legs.

The height may have something to do with your predicament

Errrrrr, so you're 6ft then?

My silly humour aside, I have the non-sport seats and find them extremely comfortable. I'm 6ft and have back and neck issues and the seat's in my car are so comfortable, it's where I go for relief and a heated massage.

While some newer models may be found with sportier lines, cosmetic upgrades, and improved performance and handling not found in the current ride, the NPV of the investment doesn't usually work out when considering the salvage value, environmental impact fees, and required ongoing maintenance expenses, of retiring the older ride.

Damn, I'm due for a trophy wife soon. However your analysis makes me pause and may reconsider chasing down "Stormy".

I'm 6'2", and this same set up works for me. I just did a 2k mile round trip over a weekend, and I thought the seats were great.
