Thoughts on Ceramic Pro?
First mod I went with was wrapping the whole car in XPEL Ultimate. I purchase my cars outright and tend to hold on to them for 10 to 15 years, figured the PPF was the way to go. I have a 3yr old and a new baby arriving in June. So the kids will be taking their toll on the wagon over time. Next week I plan on getting a roof rack installed to transport my mountain bikes. I do a tremendous amount of mountain bike riding in the So Cal area. So the PPF made sense on the roof for mud/dirt/oil grime dripping on the roof after rides.
My PPF shop is now trying to sell me on Ceramic Pro 9H to layer on top of the PPF. I passed on it for now and figured I can get it done anytime and thought it would be cheaper to deal with Ceramic Pro directly.
Here are my questions:
1. Is Ceramic Pro really proven yet? What if this stuff fails? Seems to good to be true the way they advertise it and they've only been around since 2013. I'm in Aerospace and I've seen coatings fail on turbine compressors and it ain't a pretty sight depending on application but then again that's a totally different industry.
2. Does the Ceramic Pro affect warranty on the XPEL PPF?
3. Would you trust layering this stuff on your interior? With kids, this seems to good to be true! Especially with macchiato beige interior..
I respect your opinions, I find the members on the AMG W213 forum to be the most knowledgeable members. Look forward to hearing any feedback.
My advice is skip Ceramic Pro. There is nothing special about it and it is massively overpriced.
You should spend no more than $350-500 on a coating for the whole car. Maybe an extra $200 if you need a paint correction.
Also remember a coating only really needs to last 2 years, because you will want to redo it after 2 years to gloss it up a bit more. That is always the case - even if you do a $1500 4 layer coating (which I have done before).
