Saw it over at the M5 board--- very close and a crap shoot on what you want from a comfort, sound, looks, driveability perspective.

Fall in love more and more with my E63 every time I drive it. I agree with Carlos in the video I think the E63 looks better than the M5. I haven't heard an M5 in person though so I can't comment on the soundtrack.
Realistically it should be the M5 Competition vs. the E63 S.

A few observations....
The Edmunds E63 had the harsh sport seats. The MB massage seats are really nice. No complaints. I have them. Supposedly nicer than the M5.
The Burmester 3D stereo is exceptional. Blows me a way on a daily basis. Much nicer than the M5. This is a big deal for me.
MB sport exhaust sound blows away the M5.
The M5 gauge cluster is dated.
Speed and handling are pretty close so these above items are important distinctions.

I like the M5 looks better, may be because I have had too many MBs and getting numb to the looks. The dash is so much nicer on the M5 compar3d to MBs flat panels. Plus M5 info system is light speed faster than MBs.
i did test drive the M5 F90 and found it super quiet in normal driving, the regular exhaust sound better than I expected. Power delivery is very linear and you can get in trouble quickly. A very well rounded car.

Nice to see Carlos Lago again. He did some good work over at Motortrend and I generally agreed with his takes. No surprise really in the result - both cars are so close that its pretty much down to personal preference. I got to test drive a f90 M5 last month and left very impressed. Despite appearances and the engine, it feels a very different car to the F10 M5. The only two areas I'd say there's a big difference between the two are sound where the AMG sounds so much better and ride comfort where the M5 is much better everywhere. Its astonishing to me that the M5 rides so much better even with the AMG being the one that has air suspension. Its not like the suspension is soft and the car rolls too much - its just a fantastic job by the BMW engineers dialing it in for countries without Germany's perfect tarmac. After driving M3s all my life and also running a 911 GTS as my other car, I don't find the AMG too harsh but its ride is definitely not what many people would expect given the segment. Ironically, I think the upcoming M5 competition is probably going to neutralize the M5 biggest advantage (the ride) for some tighter body control do worse relative the AMG in comparisons.

Had a bunch of those on my '18 E63S wagon. Electronic diff failure at 400 miles, and yesterday (at 2000 miles) all the assists temporarily failed, and then "magically" fixed themselves several miles later. There's a reason an extended warranty on these things is $7K... the electronics WILL fail, it's just a question of time. In my case, the dealer noted the issues as "normal" and fixed with a SW update. Very confidence-inspiring.

yea that made no sense.. I think they need to pick up the mantle now that Motortrend lost Carlos and Jason Camissa.. (I like Jonny L and Jethro isnt bad). Motortrend going to ON DEMAND is tough also..

Yea.. I dunno.. Jethro on MT is fine.. but can be boring.. Carlos is that balance.. Camissa and Liberman were entertaining ..liked their C43 AMG vs Jaguar XE, Golf R vs Focus RS, Nismo GTR vs AMG GTR .. as long as the info is there, entertainment is good... I am liking the boys on the Straight Pipes on youtube
