Another buyback/lemon? Options?

For the record, these cars that are going lemon/buyback:
Are these all early model cars? I bought mine in July, and it was a late build car(I think April or May) and so far, thankfully, no problems. I've also driven her 4400 miles in those 2 months, heh. Did the breakin differential service and all.

I believe they are lemon'd. I image some will stay for diagnostics but there are cars for sale that have lemon titles. My local dealer has probably $1m worth of MB cars with these issues. A few S63s, a few E63s, and one C63. The numbers add up quick and i cant image MB would hold onto them if they were fixable.
bmw, however, seems to lemon many of their cars much more than buybacks for some reason

Is mine next?
Let me first say this is the first car I have ever loved and the first car I have ever spent more than $65k on. So, reading these threads as been painful as I was unaware of this issue until yesterday. So, thanks?
My 2018 E63S had CEL appear last week. Car felt sluggish, but after a day it went away. Luckily, I had schedule my service A for yesterday and brought it in. Got a loaner and went to work. 5pm last night, tech calls me and says I have a problem with #1 and #6 cylinders. Says its a known problem with MB and they need to put some liquid in it and run it to test for leaks. However, this test requires 300 miles of driving by them. So, I will be driving a loaner for a while I guess.
My question to all of you is what should I be doing right now? Wait for them to run it through the battery of tests, and/or start sending emails to someone?
Thanks in advance.

So I received a call from the dealer yesterday and they are going to replace all the injectors. They told me "it fixes around 80% of the cars." Nice. This is after replacing all the coils, spark plugs, and running compression checks etc. They have had the car for over 2 weeks this time and 36 days in total.
I have called about the buy back program, but have not spoken to anyone other than the executive blah blah person. He just pissed me off and dismissed all my concerns. I'm waiting now for a call from someone who can facilitate a buy back. Like many of you, this is my first car over 100k. Maybe if I had a stable of 100k+ cars I wouldn't care so much and that may be why there are not as many people here complaining. My dealer told me this time that MB knows this is a problem and have had many others with same issues.
The car is great, but I have bad feelings now and will move forward with the buy back. .60 a mile doesn't should too bad. How do I get to that point? Who do I call to get this moving along?

Where are you located? I would contact a lemon law lawyers if they are being dismissive. 20 days out of service in NJ is enough. Formal for usage varies by state. For NJ it's car price*milage since first reported / 100000.
Or roughly 1-1.3$ per mile depending on options

Call MBUSA and ask for a buyback. They will create a case, get the information from you and then within 4-6 weeks they'll call you with a decision. I would definitely fight any idea of even pennies to be paid in a buyback program. It looks like I'm a minority in thinking like this but how can one accept the idea of paying money to return a faulty car?!
they will eat some usage but it really depends on what that was when first documented. After that milage is free and you can drive the car until they cut you a check.

The decision to buyback is a cost saving courtesy of MB but I believe it still needs to be initiated by dealer, wherein the send paperwork equivalent of a lemon law. He doesn't need either party to start a lemon law case.

It's actually very simple. Call MBUSA and tell them your details. They will open a case and have a rep call you. The rep will listen and not make any comments until they look at the service history. At this time they'll more than likely agree that you're experiencing an unnecessary loss of the vehicle.
The reps were always much faster to each goal than promised. These cars are a known problem and I'd be blown away if they didn't offer a voluntary buyback. They don't want a lemon law case on their plate. My whole buyback process was very quick and painless. PM me your telephone number if you'd like to discuss further.

Going to the dealer tomorrow to sent the car, they said it can be related to the eco green button... I hope they will fix it. I will keep you posted, it’s sad I really love the car. In canada our dollars exange is lower so this beauty cost me 158,000$ and two road assistance.
How did you spend C$158k on yours?!

Just had my 2018 E63s AMG wagon repurchased under PA lemon law. Had to deal with Stericycle, which does Mercedes' reputation no favors. Multiple CEL faults over 5 dealer visits. The last being 2 months in the shop! Shame. 7900 miles. Dealer said overly aggressive emmisions map in software and that MBUSA is authorizing no further buybacks.

Is this happening with the other cars that share the same 4L V8 engine, like the C63 and the AMG GT? This is a shame... I'm now glad I didn't buy an E63S Wagon...

@gurnio114 I had a solid experience with Stericycle here in CA (as solid as a lemon buyback can go...). I would put zero faith behind whatever your dealers have told you about your car or the issue as a whole. If the full engineering might of Mercedes cannot diagnose it, i dont think i would trust a random dealer's "emission map" diagnosis. Also, MBUSA must comply with the state laws regarding Lemon Law. If the laws dictate that they must repurchase the vehicle, they HAVE to repurchase it. It has nothing to do with willingness on their part and the Corporate side of MB is completely removed and separate from dealer franchises.
@Surge Yes, it is an issue with the engine as a whole. When i went to turn in my car they had two brand new S63s that had the same pattern of issues as my car had.

Thanks for clarifying @ExaltedPickle . I love Mercedes! I hope this get rectified soon.

Not unhappy, but Stericycle was very boilerplate. I got everything back but .65/mile (as per PA lemon law). Didn't push for reimbursement of snow tires I have in storage (if anyone needs em) nor do I think I am entitled under lemon law. But I always felt like MBUSA felt they were doing me a favor to buy it back. Just glad that it's over! And no, I don't put much stock in what the dealer says, but found it interesting that he said MBUSA is no longer offering buybacks for this issue. BTW, I also had a transmission fluid auxiliary pump failure at about 5000 miles causing a dashboard message to stop car and leave running; had to have the pump replaced. Anyone else have that?

My dealer never said anything about software. After several months of CELs and replaced plugs, coils, injectors, compressions tests, etc., I completed my buyback with Stericycle. Hated to see the car go, really enjoyed it when I had it. Taking a break from MB for a bit, went with the closest competitor 2019 M5 Comp (so far so good).
