Vibration

Hi all

I need a sense check here and feedback re my E63S.

I’m getting increasing vibration when driving both through steering wheel and also through the accelerator pedal into my leg. This is happening at low speeds and higher speeds and doesn’t seem to be dependent on road type either. I didn’t notice it for the first 1,000-2,000 miles but seems to have increased lately.

Is it ridiculously bad? Probably not? Is it noticeable? Yes, for sure and when driving long periods it creates an ache in my hand/arm.

Having never had a AMG before, is this normal? It didn’t experience this with cars before, but I’m trying to be fair and if it’s a characteristic of the car then so be it.

Has anyone any experience of this type of thing?

Doesn't sound normal. Have you checked the front wheels for impact damage? I would start there first to assess the tire balance and wheel run-out.

No I haven’t and it did cross my mind. My missus said she drove a couple of weeks back and came off a steep kerb and heard a loud ‘pop’. The tyres are still inflated but I wonder if something else happened.

Thanks, I think I’ll get it in after Xmas to be checked.

Keep us updated! I have the same problem but mine is due to afternarket rims. Still working on getting the correct hub rings and spacers - Motorsport made them as one piece for me to reduce even more vibration.

My vibration isn't terrible but above 100mph it's kind of... more than I would have expected? It could be a million things right? Like, curb rash on the wheel from previous owner, improper tire tread/alignment/the weights on the rims, right?

So had it out for a test run with technicians. Standard response, characteristic of the car, it’s meant to be like that and it’s due to firm suspension and 20” wheels, blah, blah, blah

Vibration strong enough to be felt in the steering wheel usually indicates a wheel/tire imbalance or alignment. My car actually feels smoother as the speed increases.

Thanks, I am going to get it checked out by a tyre fitter and I’m escalating, honestly these guys contradicted themselves so many times.

I actually tried to be fair and made sure I complemented the car and pointed out what I liked about it, but the best one was when he told me that the “Comfort” setting was not actually “Comfort” and could very well feel harsher and not comfortable as the software adapted to my driving style. I asked him why it was called ‘comfort’ then and he replied ‘good question’!!!
