W213 E 63 S Tire Pressures

Has anyone tried the recommendation of 51/49 front/rear? Or what about 41/39? I have 41/38 on my C 63 S and it drives pretty comfortably for me, and stable up to the highest possible speed. However, my worry is that the E has much more weight, and the rims are 20” (compared to 19”). But it has the air suspension... So, would it be possible to reach the same/better level of comfort with 51/49 on the airmatic?

Yes, I think I need to take the recommendations for the full load rating because me and my one passenger combined are usually around 200kg LOL.

I run 41/33 as I’m usually alone in the car or with one passenger and driving slower than the higher speed where higher pressure is recommended.

Have you ever rode a C 63 S with the same tire pressure (similar tires) and could say anything about the difference in comfort?

My only fear will be bent wheels at those pressures. However the w213 has wider tires with same aspect ratios as the w212, meaning more tire thickness for the 213. So might just be ok.

No.

At the factory delivery in Germany the pressures were even lower in the front at around 36 or 38 as I remember. Would have to consult posts from around that time. Four people, plus luggage. Not all the roads in Germany are perfect, France were noticeably rougher, and Switzerland, Australia, and Lichtenstein weren’t perfect either, but not bad. We didn’t find the ride that harsh, though it is definitely firm even in Comfort mode. But we were expecting a sporty ride.

We also managed not to bend any rims.

51/49 is for winter I think... you can't really go below that if you are using winter tires in the cold

I am running ~39/37 PSI (cold) on OEM size A/S tires. Once heated up, they run around ~42/40 PSI with no issues on all types of roads.

i run 36 psi square for both winter and summer. No warning at all. At 51psi, that must be very harsh ride.

Hmmmm

I am not sure then what happened to me, but when I got my Pirelli installed and they put 51PSI, I lowered to 45 and it gave me low pressure warning. Thats weird.

Here in winter the temp is average -15C/5F (Canada)

Not sure if that makes any difference.

i am in Toronto. Not as cold compared to where you are at.

I understand the tire pressure will drop once it gets to that kind of temp., I do monitor it on my dash so it won't drop down below 34psi and if it does, then I will simply put in more air

Your TPMS is set to 51 from factory, which is what it should be for high speed driving on summer tires. If you change your pressure (ie lower), you will need to reset the TPMS to get rid of low pressure warning.

What tires are you running now? Follow the tire pressure recommendation found inside of the fuel filler cap based on what tires you're running, and then reset the TPMS to set new norm.

Do you set when tires are cold or warm?

Optimally tire pressure should be checked/set first thing in the morning prior to the vehicle being driven, i.e.,cold.

Yes, I agree as well - tire pressure should be set when tires are cold.

I am in Montreal.
I run Pirelli Sottozero
Usually I run at 51PSI but as you guys say, it is a stiff ride.

Now, I drove down to Florida lol with the winter tires of course. Montreal to Miami.
The pressure went up to 54-55PSI.
I want to bring it down to 40ish as I do with my summer tires.

I don't understand how your back is still ok with 55psi in tires... And suspension as well...

Make 40-42 front and 38-40 back. this is enough to keep your rims with no bents and ride is smooth enough too.

Absolutely better to bring it down - simple - take air out, and reset TPMS .

Gonna try this (41-39) and take it to 300kmh. If it works nicely, then that’s all I’m asking for!

i have zero idea how any one can run 51; that is for a fully laden car with luggage going over 155 mph LOL. Not since Clark Griswold has such occurred.

51 is the max the tire should ever be at but remember the tire doesnt know which car its going on- use the gas tank inner door to direct or the door jam.

39/36 or your bone jarring ride will continue.
