Auto Folding Mirrors Stopped Working

Out of nowhere, my mirrors stopped automatically folding in when I locked the car. It worked for about a month before it stopped doing it for no apparent reason.

I do not believe I changed any settings, and in fact I double checked to make sure that feature was still turned on.

Any suggestions on a fix?

I had the same problem. Sales rep fixed it as follows:

1 go into menu and turn auto fold off.
2 exit menu
3 turn car off, go out and lock car
4 open car and restart
5 go to menu and turn auto fold on
6 exit menu
7 turn car off
8 lock car from outside of car
It worked!

Or, maybe the OP was curious whether others had encountered the problem before and dealt with it through some combination of the many setting dialogs the car has.

Exactly. Isn’t that one of the points of a forum: to share our collective knowledge on our cars as a possible first step at resolution before we take our cars in for service on items that have an easy / known solution?

After years on these types of forums, I will never understand the troll posts. If you don’t want to help, just ignore the post and move on.

Great, thanks for sharing!

Thanks also to the OP for posting the question/issue.

Now if I see the issue pop up I've got an option to try before taking the car in for service.

That did it! Thank you!

Thanks for saving me from an unnecessary trip to the dealer.

I feel this car may have too much tech for its own good. This the third buggy issue I've seen so far.

glad I could help.

fortunately this is the only issue i have had so far. Have had my wagon for 2+ months now. Sometimes i find the tech overwhelming, but in addition to the incredible power and great handling i have really been enjoying the following items:
Hold ( at lights)
heads up display
massage seats (wife really loves them)
Distronic auto pilot (both for long trips and in freeway traffic)
Individual setting: for suspension, throttle, etc
race launch (lots of fun)
performance exhaust
auto headlights incl auto high beam
keyless enter/go
Etc.

my wife initially complained about my aggressive driving, but we reached a compromise. I now warn her before i punch it.

With all the computers onboard these modern cars, these individual systems need the occasional reboot. Following those same directions above for any other problem that could arise (particularly, on a brand new car) may solve many problems...worth a try.

Oddly enough on the same day mine stopped unfolding When I went to unlock the car on Monday I couldn't get the mirrors to fold out. I kept locking and unlocking and then finally I hit that little button on the door handle (above the right and left mirror select buttons) and they unfolded and then continued to work.

This is hilarious! Mine did the same. I check in the infotainment system, all settings correct. Then I folded and unfolded them with door button and bam, they started working again. Weird that it has happened to 3 people nearly at the same time.

All those computers, I had something (don't remember what) that stop working as selected and I just went to the menu and it was selected as ON, so I clicked it OFF and then back ON and the option started working again. 2019 C43 Sedan. And this kind of stuff is almost impossible for the dealer to deal with because it's so random unless you can determine a pattern that you can replicate at the dealership.

Anyone have a trick for fixing a non-retracting passenger seat-belt?

Try pulling it out all the way and check if anything has gotten into the retractor mechanism. I think there is a pendelum type thing in there that locks them up if the car is tilted, maybe it's stuck. Next you could unbolt it from the floor or seat base where it's attached and make sure it's all clean. Or maybe it's just broken but that's rare.

within a day they reverted back to not folding in. Anyone else experience this after Moch15's fix? I'll head to the dealer next.
