E53 AMG Sedan ride quality
Would folks with experience with the AMG E53 sedan please comment on its ride quality ... maybe make comparisons to other Mercedes models or other cars.
Wondering if the car still rides very civilized or if it’s approached E63/S ride firmness/harshness territory.
I test drive a CLS53 and the engine and transmission were amazing. The drive was too brief to understand the ride.
The E450 sedan/coupe/cabrio ride like a dream. Wondering how much of that the E53 surrenders in the name of performance.

I have no E53 experience, but I'd caution you to drive one yourself because this is a very subjective question. I was expecting my E63S to be very firm compared with the C63 it replaced, based on comments here. I was surprised to find that it's more comfortable, even in Sport+, althought the handling is tighter. One driver's smooth is another's wallow, and there's really no absolute measure of perfect firmness.
The C63 rides much harsher than an E63, which has a longer wheelbase and an air suspension, so your comments there don’t surprise me. Sounds like you should test drive the E53 also, so you can give us your comparison versus the E63!

Of course it’s subjective. “How does it ride?” is going to prompt a subjective answer. I’m looking for subjective but well informed reviews, not guessing games. Not asking for decrees from up above.

Must test drive it yourself, rent the car for a weekend to get a better measure.
It also depends where you live, in LA or Chicago (at least the latter has the excuse of 70F swings within days), with rough surfaces and potholes everywhere, the car will not be as comfortable as it would in Dallas or Scottsdale.

e53 amg coupe
I feel a bit of a fraud as i've not got my new e 53 amg coupe yet, (counting the hours till march 10th!) but i did test drive one for 24 hours and several hundred miles back in december - I haven't driven mercs before, as someone says drive quality is all down to personal preference and sensitivity. But I loved it - lots of country roads in need a repair in the english countryside where i live and it coped very well - on motorway it was a very relaxing and smooth drive. Some have complained about the steering not being precise enough and they may be right, but i found it on twisty roads to be excellent for a car of this size and weight, but i've not driven hundreds of cars with greater sporting pedigrees. I really struggled to find another car in europe with the beauty of a coupe, where if needs be I could fit 2 normal sized adults in the back, I could cruise around keeping my wife happy that I had a performance car with an eco mode and electric motor, yet feel significant and controllable power in all weather conditions (you may not have heard but it rains a lot in UK!).

Who is renting a 2019 E53?
I agree that ride is subjective. My 2018 e63 rides firm but not harsh in my mind one factor is the lack of the optional sports seat which hard and transmits every bump.
I drove the E63 with and without the sports seat and really didn't like the firmer seat.

Hi all, this is my first post ever (anytime, anywhere) so it may come out sideways ! I am in a 2014 SL450 and about to place an order for a ‘19 E53 coupe so this is a really timely thread. Though I have enjoyed the SL, I am finding that I am leaning toward more luxury than sport going forward, as well wanting more tech than my SL (or even the latest SL). I test drove the E450 and E53 a couple of times each; liked both but when I added all the options I wanted in the 450 such as air suspension/AMG Line/etc, the price came within 5K of the E53 since most of my options were standard in the E53. I found the ride to be only a bit firmer in the E53 and the handling seemed markedly better (could be the way the drove the cars !).
Appreciate any other comments or concerns with the E53 before I pull the trigger !

It handles better than the C43 and stays flatter in turns. It is not as quick or raucous as the C43 however even with the sport exhaust.
I am very happy and it's really the best of both worlds.

Took part in this discussion thinking it was about E63 with which I have over 2k miles under my belt (frequent rental in LA).
I'm sorry, have ZERO experience with the E53 and have no real idea how it rides, I don't know any rental outfit with that car either, most have E63 only.

Have a look at this you tube link, this guy is pretty good at Merc reviews

Note the coupe is a completely different car than the sedan, even if the engine is the same.
I should say I think he’s quite a charming guy but very biased in favor of Mercedes and he thinks everything is marvelous.

I agree ,but in general sedans tend to ride slightly better than coupes. At least it will give you an idea.

doesnt drive nearly as harsh as a 63... maybe not as nice as a Sl450/550.. better than an SL63...
