IF front bumper needs to come off, that would be 2-3 hrs of labor. Would it not be cheaper to buy zunsport Center grille instead (10 min diy). Besides, I would prefer dealer not to touch the bumper to begin with which could lead to scratches and or fender misalignment/gap afterwards

Grill will be warranty work. Not sure if access needs bumper removal or just a part on the top removed. I think that the external grills spoil the look of the front, so I'm not a fan of them. Also, for the small rocks/debris that might hit the radiators, those projectiles are still going to go through. Leaves, however, will be stopped. 😀

I do understand oem guard or zunsport grille will not protect the rads much at all.

If you do do find out more on this oem fitting procedures, please update us

unbelievable how this thing is giving so much confusion. Dealers/manufacturers should know this stuff but they don't !

no AMG E63S 2016-... has protection on the center front grill
https://www.caricos.com/cars/m/merce...mages/129.html

the protection is only on the side inter-coolers intakes AND it's only a small grid attached to the front of the radiator AND this has always been this since this model appeared, including in MY19.

it's a probability game. it is more likely that small debris will hit the radiators given that they are just big open holes waiting for a direct hit or from a bounce of the lateral panels than if you fit them with Zunsport grills. then the debris will have to pass thru the relatively wide mesh an then hit the radiators in plastic grill holes.

the looks are affected but not that much as one would expect. it's just exacerbated because we have seen the car before and then after.

Everyone should take another look at the center radiator openings. The Zunsport only goes over the bottom portion. There is another 2 feet of fins/coils above the bottom opening that will remain unprotected and open to debris and projectiles. I'm assuming that the factory grid covers the entire radiator and not just the lowermost portion. For those with a 2019 car, look to see if the entire radiator is covered or just the bottom portion.

no need to remove front of car... in fact it is a DIY job.

All versions are equal in this regard. Let's start removing this confusion because then this gets indexed on Google and people will repeat the same wrong information:

1) All model years of the new W213 E63s come stock with a plastic and thin rectangular grid that is fixed just over the radiators on the side and bottom intakes
2) the front upper radiator has no protection whatsoever but the lower half has a plastic guard that deflects the air to the upper part and gives protection against direct hits.

You are just wrong! Not all 2018 came with the complete set! My car didn't nor did 2 2018 GTRs sitting on the floor here in NY had them either!
It appears that all 2019 cars do come with the plastic shields.
It only covers the lower part of the radiator where it is a direct path (except if you have a front license plate mounted).

OK, so post a picture of one of such cases, for the E63s

why are asking such a stupid question? reread the post from the beginning.

Look.. so if your 2019 car is equipped with them.. then don't worry about it. But for some of us, its worth checking and for about $33 it's an easy fix. But if you need proof... I have reposted an actual video of my leaking radiator that was clearly not equipped with the plastic guard.

That looks the main radiator, not the side and bottom intakes. And when was that film made? after someone open the panels?...

Cyclrder is correct. Nearly all 2018's didn't have the plastic grate for the lower portion of the center radiator.

Center grid was installed on my 2018 E63S at my dealer today. 45 minute job without needing to remove the bumper. There is a service recall to install this on approximately 3100 vehicles.

My SM confirmed the recall, said parts are in stock, but I didn’t ask the number. Scheduling the service visit and also doing map update at same time.

My 2019 car needed to have the recall done during the 2,000 mile service.

Radiator protector for GT GRILLE?

The middle grill cover's part number is 099-503-01-00 $33.00 (I don't have the part numbers for the outer grills) I believe it can be installed without removing the nose of the car.

here is without...

I have Gt grille and I love it except threes this space it literally looks they're should be a oem mesh piece that protects your radiator from rocks but still let's air in. If you look there is 4 holes and tab on each side can anyone help me?

This shows the radiator

You can see the tabs on right side

See the tabs and holes

Better picture of holes . It looks like there's a piece you could design to protect your radiator at least from big rocks etc

See the radiator is super exposed but see that lil rectangle opening feels like there's something should fit there

I added pictures of my car so you guys can see other things i added was lights on door and sill. Chrome delete , wrapped satin 3m dark grey 2080 in case someone interested. I wish Flexishield made a cosmetic ppf that looked this good that would be best of both worlds then ceramic coat to be extra . Water falls off car with ceramic. If anyone can help with my quandary with the radiator being exposed please 🙏 I'll be indebted for life
