Taking the plunge!
I guess it’s happening. The paperwork is done. I’m going tomorrow to pick this diamond white on nut brown car. A customer had ordered it and walked away. They made me a trade offer I couldn’t turn down. I loved my Audi but at the end of the day, just needed a little more flexibility with the back seat and trunk with a 10 month old and all the stuff that comes with him. We ended up using my wife’s GLE all the time and the Audi is getting driven very little.

Congrats! You will love it; it is just just a great car, including in the snow.

Never driven those new cars. So going on reviews and your guys’ feedback it seems that the majority is pleased. There was no way I was going for a test drive on summer tires here north of the wall in frozen Minnesota. My Audi was trouble free to own and I’m sad to let her go. Put a lot of time and energy going back and forth to design the perfect interior through Audi exclusive, with just the right contrast stitching and this detail and that. Then the whole Neidfaktor stuff. My god. I’m jealous of whomever is gonna pick it up. It was just not a good fit for us anymore. As much as I hate to admit it, my wife was right!! She tried to warn me 2.5 years ago, we were engaged then and I say “nah it’s a practical 4 door sedan, what else you need?”
Oh well! I got a beast of dad wagon to look forward to driving to work everyday :-) One of my best friends called me every name in the book for picking a wagon over a sedan or SUV. Don’t get the wagon hate here in the US?!! LOL

Any my tips for break in folks? I read a few threads and there seems to be no concesus other than avoiding cruise control. I have a 160 mile drive home. Keep it in comfort? Sport? My other other AMG was CPO and broken in.
My corvette was was brand new and break in for the first 500 miles was a pain the butt. It’s a stick, and you had to keep alternating speeds, and change gears every 5-10 minutes 3-4-5-6-7-6-5-4-3 and obviously no cruise. And my first drive was 500 miles :-) I got a bit crampy lol. I haven’t read anywhere that I need to do anything remotely that drastic to the Benz.

You should see the interior of the Audi. More leather than a Bentley. But yeah I’m getting excited.

Ah, good to know, thank you! Is there a speed limit or RPM limit that we also shouldn't cross? I am not too familiar with the rules of breaking in an AMG as this will be my first one.

My car came with a sticker on the windshield telling me the break in guide, but you should not go over 85MPH and over 4000 RPM, and make sure the car is not in manual mode. V70 gave me the best break in advice on the break in post. I just pretty much followed what he said and just made sure not to go over 85mph and to make sure the rpm is under 4k.

Thanks all. Everything went well and now she’s resting in the garage. It’s amazing how much you can fit in the back of these wagons. We put the entire set of summer wheels/tires, the toy G Wagen and still had plenty of room to go to the grocery store if we wanted to. Will need a few days to get comfortable with all the user settings, colors and all that. It’s a huge departure from my wife’s GLE interior, yet feels familiar at the same time. I like that the kept physical buttons and knobs to toggle things like HVAC, stereo....etc vs VAG recent shift to touch screen everything.
In in a short 180 mile trip home, being mindful of break in guidelines, and compared to my Audi S7 this E63 felt a lot closer to my corvette in terms of handling, body roll...etc. again I haven’t pushed it much but can tell it’s a lot more buttoned down. It’s also quite a bit harsher ride, compared to both my Audi and even my wife’s GLE63S. You do feel every road imperfection and that’s in comfort. We’re graced with some of the worst roads in the country up here in northern Minnesota. Think Detroit level and you got the idea.
Cabin is extremely quiet, perhaps some of it is attributable to that acoustic glass thingy the original buyer had specced? This compared to both S7 and GLE63. The exhaust note is a bit...underwhelming. Again I haven’t revved it past 4.5k per break in instruction but I’m comparing it to the M157 in the older gens and definitely feel something missing even at low RPMs. Maybe it’s louder in different driving modes?
I was pleased my Audi snow tire set worked out very well on the Mercedes. I had checked the tire shop and they thought it should work but we had a temporary scare at the dealership. Everything worked out well at the end.
Thank you all for your kind words. I look forward to being in the W213 community!!

The exhaust note will be there, especially when you go into Sport +. I have a group of kids that hang out in their front yard on my way home from work. They jump up and and down, waving and yelling at me to open it up when I drive by.

I figured. AMG does the best sound in the business. These are just my very early impressions. The M157 has a constant rumble even at low RPMs that I think is missing but it is a different engine with different displacement and architecture.
