Is the Acoustic Package that much noticeable?

Is there a big difference in noise from a e63s with acoustic and non acoustic package? I had a e63s with acoustic package (RIP), and found another (not same color combo) but good enough deal where I might pull the trigger, but then again it doesnt have the acoustic package..... Has anyone driven both types and have any feedbacks?

Personally and if I were in your shoes, I would pull the trigger on the car you found if the only lost option is the acoustic pkg. Decibel levels might be a bit lower, but it comes with added weight (not much). And given your circumstances, it seems like a small thing to lose to be back in the saddle so quickly.

Good luck.

Since most of the noise in these cars is tire noise, I skipped it to save weight. I don't hear a lot of road noise. As I suspected, it's tire noise and the exhaust when it's set to loud.

Thanks for the input. I guess that wouldn't be so bad, but then seeing the color combo again this morning, I don't know if I could stomach it for that long. The interior brown coffee color with black exterior just doesn't fit my taste that well. Just going to have to keep looking I guess...

I don't think it's noticeable the difference, but this package also brings a useful protection against UV and infrared which is important if you live in a hot place. That's for about 1500 usd and 20kg of added weight.

The biggest noise source is the tires

I don't have the acoustic package and the car is still very quiet. One of the quietest cars in its segment. When I am on a conference call driving the E63S people cannot tell that I am in a car.

Also you will be able to hear your sports exhaust better when it is set to sport. I would skip the acoustic package.

You can get better tints aftermarket, and if you have an issue with tire noise then switch to Michelin.

Does the acoustic package affect the use of a radar detector?

No. But it lowers the reception of radio waves (radio, GSM,..)

Yes it can (a windshield mounted detector of course) if not placed in the correct location. There are 2 small sections of the windshield that do not have the special sunlight reflective coating. One is just the the right of the rear view mirror, and the other is down near the dashboard, near the center I believe. If you look from the outside in the correct conditions you can see the two locations. For best performance place your detector in the former location.

Radar detection performance from the rear will suffer some because the rear window has the coating too, but my V1 still gives plenty of warning.

I have it. It suppose to block heat as well but I don't know how efficient it is comparing with regular glass. I see big difference how my gate opener works: in E63s it works from 60ft and in another car it works from 200+ ft.

I hate that I have to be within 20 feet of the gate controller for it to work. And I'm not a fan of placing the radar detector on the passenger side. I have rock cracks and chips on the windshield and will replace it with a regular windshield soon. .
