Replacement tires???

OK, so I haven't even taken delivery of my E63 Wagon yet, but I'm starting to get worried about the 5-10k miles people seem to be getting out of the OE tires. I'm already looking to see what replacements are out there that will last longer and be less expensive to replace.

Tire Rack lists several, including the Michelin Pilot Sports 4S and Super Sports. However they also list the less expensive Conti Extreme Contact Sports and the Bridgestone Potenza RE980 AS (yes, the Bridgestones are all-seasons). Wondering if it's blasphemy to put anything other than Michelins on this car??? I will never track it, as it will be purely a daily driver.

Any recommendations or concerns?
Thanks!

I am at 10k miles and my tires look great, even after I did a rally. I will swap them after my next track day in 2 weeks. But you should be fine and dont need to worry about tire replacement if your just using it as a daily. Michelin Pilot Sports 4S is the best tire to go for, I dont think I would go with anyone else. Never cheap out on tires!

FWIW I put those Bridgestones on my wagon for the winter. I did a tread depth comparison after the 6k miles I put on them and based on the wear rate I would expect at least 20k miles out of a set under normal use. An added benefit was less road noise, more compliant ride, and no "scrubbing" at full turn lock at low speeds. You won't get the same grip but 99% of the time you won't miss it.

I wouldn’t start to worry yet about tire replacements yet. Get the car first, then we will freak out together. I used to get 10,000 miles out of a BMW 550 I had, and tire changes hurt. I figured the same for this car. I get mine in December (hopefully).

If you going to drift it 24/7 then you can use some cheap Chinese tires which you can buy for ~$180 each brand new. As an example, the Lexani LX-Twenty tires are about $130.

I put almost 17k tires on front tires and the cord has shown. Michelin gives 15k miles warranty on front 265/35/20 which we have on the front. My car is lowered and has aftermarket wheels with more aggressive offsets. I do an alignment every time I took wheels out of the car and have no issue with tires, 17k miles seems legit for me for that heavy pig (e63s).
