unfortunatelly , i have very limited info regarding this. there is only one company that currently produce cracked cpc unit ( not gad ), they replace your stock cpc with their own one, then its tied to your VIN number. Where do they get it and what procedure they are doing its obviously is a secret.
but, friend of mine tried to crack oem unit or change some data - all useless...

from 1500 to 2500 eur. i think the only place in usa where you can get it installed is ec canada, but i am not sure , maybe none. you can have a look at stock unit A2139005901
if you want to install it, we can arrange him to fly over to you, he installed one in UK last week before vmax200.

I see it elsewhere as "drivetrain control unit"
It might be interesting to buy and take apart to understand chips inside of it since it is so cheap.
From what I understand, it has software on it that can be flashed? That's a software approach. I wonder if a "hardware" approach involving signal spoofing could be done.

Mine is going into Mercedes Wednesday for a service plus check 3 recalls if needed
1 check routing bonnet sensor hose
2 rework seat backrest both front seats (bucket type)
3 another pipe check do to possible fire risk
and of course a software update which will put everything back to stock
Unfortunately in the UK you cant ask them to leave the software as unlike some other countries
DMS will re map free of charge
Spoke with another Tuning company they can get into the gearbox to remove limiter to VMAX and also say you cant get the best out of the car until removed like suggested on here ref CPC
