They can’t be lifted off the glass in their resting position. That’s it, not much of a thread here, but I just found this out for myself and needed to warn prospective owners.

True, would scratch the hood if trying, but there is a simple (yet not intuitive) way to get them in position where they can be lifted off the glass.

Please se attached.

Thanks, good info. Is this attachment/ fitment MB only? What are the best blade options out there or is it best to stick with MB? Thanks.

I had to replace the OEM MB blades on my C63S because they skip and chatter like crazy. The replacement brand was so smooth and did such a nice job. I want to say Michelin, but I dont recall the brand. you can search W205 forum. Anyway the E63S has no such broblem but i can imagine trying to replace the wipers and getting dumbfounded.

These instructions are useful, but what they don't say is that the car needs to be "off" (i.e. instrument dark, etc.) before pressing the washer button. If you don't wait for the car to be off, the washer goes on and the blades do not go to the service position. I found the easiest and quickest way to get the car to go off is to simply open the driver's door.

Sorry, don’t know about the replacement blades as car has only 1.3k miles.

Since “it never rains in CA”, like the old song said, may sell the car before needing the new blades... lol

It rains in Florida, and these factory blades are excellent. I will probably be a sport and pony up for another MB set when they go bad.

But the sun does chew up the blades on those cars kept outside (not my E63S :-) ), so on my Jeep and F-250 I have to replace the blades about every other year.

Been a fairly rainy "winter" in San Diego so far and I put new blades on the Jeep as the old ones were getting kind of knackered. Can't believe how expensive the blades are getting these days - $27 per blade for some supposedly sun resistant Bosch blades for the Jeep this year. They do work well though.

I did have new blades put on the E63S following the windshield damage that occurred during my cross country drive after the car was delivered to Euro Motorsports in Germantown following my European Delivery trip (see: https://mbworld.org/forums/w213-amg/...ml#post7373371). Watching the process, the service guy struggled quite a bit putting the new blades on. Seems like they were quite a tight fit in the blade arm and the service guy even tried a couple different blades just to make sure one wasn't defective. Eventually got in put on OK and it hasn't fallen off yet so hopefully it was done correctly. Make sure to put a good protective blanket on the car before starting as they (or you) will probably end up leaning all over the car during the struggle to get the blades put on.

Yes, agreed! Direct sunlight is harmful to both exterior and interior of the car. Especially rubber parts.
This is why it's good practice to park in the shade whenever possible.
