AMG Driving Academy prices/discounts

2020 schedule has finally been released and I'm looking to sign up for Advanced program. $4k although I'm sure its worth it it seems a bit steep imo. Does anyone know if there are any discounts available? Perhaps getting a group together through a dealer?
Any info would be appreciated.
thanks

Zero discounts AFAIK. Unless you have a purchase reward credit you can apply to the session, this is it. I would also book fast as there are few seats on the advanced classes...

Yep, it's what I been told.
I am just not sure if money can be invested in a different school. Any feedback would be great from those who have already done the courses

The only discount (as Wolfman has pointed out) is the Purchase Rewards if you recently purchased an AMG. There used to be discounts if you were an AMG Private Lounge Member but that discount has been discontinued.

As far as the dollar amount for the program goes, it is well worth the cost but I am a car nut. If you ask my wife she would say it is a waste of money but she could not care less about the AMG Driving Academy or cars in general. I did the Advanced class last year and it was a blast (took second place in the Autocross competition and won an AMG suitcase). Today I signed up for the Pro and Pro + classes. If you think $4k for 2 days is alot, my price of admission is $8k for three days but I love the experience and I am planning on applying for the SCCA racing license at the end of the Pro + class.

I signed up for Pro. $3k after my new AMG discount. I’d done Ron Fellows Corvette school a few years ago and the 3 day course (level 1) was about $4k. So $5k for 2 days does seem a bit pricey but you are paying the Mercedes tax for sure.

1k discount is great. Porsche two day is $3400 so not sure how much better AMG will be. Also, I plan on tracking my GT3RS

What did you think of the Ron Fellows school for three days? I have been seriously thinking about a 2021/2022 (when it comes out) Corvette Z06. Curious about your thoughts on the Fellows school.

The 20% Private Lounge discount from the past near decade of ADA's is gone, which isn't going over well on the PL. I'm not sure about last year but if the Pro+ is a standalone $3k one-day class for a SCCA license if you've already completed a Pro at a previous event, that's not terrible. It'd be nicer if it was $2400 with the PL discount...

I truly enjoyed it. First day is a bit elementary, basics like accelerating and braking. It picks up on day 2 significantly and day three is basically all lead/follow. Lot of seat time. With a brand new corvette it costs me $2k if I recall since Chevy gives you a discount like the new AMG bonus thing. Prices may have changed since.

I did Performance last fall at Laguna Seca and swore that I would return to finish my SCCA license (or at least the pre-requisites for it).

So this morning I put my money where my mouth is, and signed up for...

Advanced
Pro
Pro+

I am doing all of them at Laguna Seca in June, so say hello if you're going to be there as well on any of those dates/sessions.

Wow that's commitment for sure. I am considering Laguna as well so I may see you there if the dates coincide

As others have said, no discounts. The 20% AMG Private Lounge discount would have been nice. The program is very popular and they appear to be cutting costs to some degree. In many countries they've stopped doing this, so at least here in the USA it still exists. I think it's worth it to learn the limits of your actual car. I did the Performance at Laguna Seca with the new car purchase credit last year. Great experience and quite a value that comes with the purchase of the car. The track programs are great if you plan on continuing on and participate in track days in the future. Personally I'm more interested in car control and fun driving, so I signed up for the Drift program this year. Really wanted to go last year, but Drift was sold out.

Well that was quick! Within 12 hours of registration opening, all Pro+ classes are filled. Glad I was quick on the trigger to sign up.

  • I did the performance class last year at Laguna (won the autocross / helmet!) I too would like to do the series and apply for the SCCA license. Do you have to do all 4 for prerequisites for the license or can I skip advanced and go straight to Pro / Pro+? Thinking COTA for advanced if necessary and probably Road Atlanta for Pro / Pro+ next year.

Based on the Driving Academy’s information, in order to go to Pro you need to either do Advanced or another multi day school from another Performance driving school that they ok. For Pro + you must take the Pro class.

I’m hoping they’ll accept my 3 day Ron Fellows Corvette school. If not then unfortunately I won’t go this year as non of the Advanced dates I have off.

My wife and I are waiting on our confirmation now for the same date. I am assuming this is better than the BMW 1 and 2 day classes we’ve had. At least the cars will be better.
