Discount on MSRP
Looking at 2020 e53 cabrio. Only found one with everything I want and the right color. The dealer has offered a 4.5% discount on MSRP.
I usually get more of a discount new purchases, but they are saying that current year AMG cars don’t get the same discounts and that their stock/inventory will
not be replenished easily and discounts are fewer and far between.
The extra couple of percentage points isn’t that big a deal financially, but I’m a bit miffed. Maybe I’m wrong. Thoughts?

Seems on the low side. we got 5% off on ordering our 2019 E53 Coupe before it even showed up on the MBUSA webpage. Should have known we were too low when they took the offer immediately, even at a smaller regional dealer. I'd start at least 10%, they're not that rare and the current economy is your friend.

this actually the slowest car i owned and currently own in the past 5 years.
but i would take the exotic out if i want speed, this is my relax car.
this is good for convertible and have a bit more space plus possible passenger.
911 is too small for me and also cost 2.5X for the S to 5X if i go for the turbo
dont buy this if you want speed
S63 is also cost 3X and not a lot more performance.
M8 convertible if you want more performance but not too much more.
Speed choice would be a 720S, F8, 911, Lambo EVO

I got 5% on a 2020 E53 coupe order last year and rec’d mine in early Dec. Loving mine for combo of performance and luxury, exactly what I hoped it would be !!
Think you should get a bit more discount for it being a 2020 but if this is the car you want, go for it. Haven’t heard too many double digit discounts on amg cars. Also if you want to feel less miffed, you can ask for discount on extras like tinting, prepaid maintenance or extended warranty if you were planning on this anyway.

Timing is everything
After researching for months and negotiating with multiple dealers for a few weeks, I was able to get a 22% discount on my E53 last December. It was a new MY 2019 they’d had on the lot for awhile and I combined their motivation to get rid of it with a USAA fleet discount and MB year end incentives to walk away with a new car for about the going rate of used E53s at the time. The car was the color I wanted and the spec I wanted, so I lucked out in a lot of ways.

I was offered 16% on a 2019 but wanted a 2020 car for the increased speed limiter and the “emotional exhaust” at startup.
5% for the new car seems low, but maybe I jump.

On the e63 almost everyone here got 6% off msrp. In the current situation, you can push for more off since 99% of the dealerships are not selling any cars due to corona so you can really go all out and try to get the best deal you can.
