Taking your car to car wash after ceramic pro application

Do car washes know how to wash a car after ceramic pro application? Does anyone else let a car wash clean their car?

I only let my detailer wash my car. It's a pain but at least I know it's in good hands and they know what they are doing.

I have all my cars paint corrected, wrapped in ExpelUltimate and ceramic coated. I wash "the toys", myself, and the daily drivers, I let the "hand wash" do them.

We have a hand wash car wash here that I’ll use in the winter in a pinch or go through a touch less “wash.” Other than that, hand wash only after ceramic coating.

Have always hand washed my car myself. Only exception has been when the dealer washes the car after a service visit.

Ditto. A bit tough in the winter sometimes, but this year was extra mild. Dr Beasley all the way too. I got the kit with the spot clean spray bottles, which is nice.

I actually give the dealer explicit instructions to NOT wash my car. Local dealer confirmed they take it through an automatic wash with brushes.

I will NOT allow my dealer to wash the car. With magno paint, I feel the need to be extra careful.

I either hand wash mine myself or let the person who ceramic coated it do it every now and then. When it goes to the dealership I have signs that hang in the car for no one to wash the car. I’ve seen how and who washes some of their cars there. Auto washes are out on the E class while I own it.

I have my installer wash my car only. If anyone else does clean the car, has to be a hand wash only, no machines.

In Los Angeles I take my ceramic coated car to Detail 301 in Beverly Hills. I treat my car like a member of the family and they are the best in town.

Basically go to a touchless if you are in a pinch. Get the basic wash just to rinse the car. No need for the soaps and chemicals and all.

The benefit of having the car totally wrapped in ExpelUltimate, then ceramics, is not having to worry when I hand wash it, or take it to the “commercial hand wash”. Currently, not taking it to the commercial wash, as much as I’d like to support them, safety first!!!

How about wheels? A couple of my friends have complained about having low profile wheels scuffed or rashed going through car washes.

The "commercial" hand car wash that I use, does utilize a "conveyor", but no, no problem with the wheels. The problem I have with the wheels, is potholes!!!!

I had ceramic pro done on my wife's Lusso.
She was regularly taking it to a local car wash and after about 50 times the paint finish still looked the same, car was washed the same way any Honda or KIA would be.

Either I wash it myself or I take it to the detailer who coated the car to get cleaned.

In current times getting ceramic application is an old school trick. I put transparent foil on the whole car. You can wash it even using metal brush or go wherever you want to clean your car with just cleaning without any wax etc. It was pain in the *** when ceramic coat was put on my previous cars as it forced me all the time to clean the car by myself or detailer.

The newest transparent wraps don't need ceramic coats on them from now anymore.

Something does not compute here: the whole idea of ceramic coat is to protect the car paint.

Why would it require a special cleaning procedure?

I can wash it myself using a regular car wash at home. I just don’t take it to any automatic car wash place. The place that installed it uses a foam gun to wash it and air dries it with compressed air. No towels being used to dry it. And since it is indoors, the guys don’t leave a bad body odor in the car when they are done. My last place would leave the car reeking sometimes. Horrible.

Normally, I take the dailies to a hand car wash, that does inside and out. During these Covid19 times, I'm doing it myself for dailies and toys. Hopefully, by wintertime, this won't be a necessity. And yes, IMHO, the ceramic (on top of the ExpelUltimate) makes washing the car so much easier.

Because if you put car ceramic, quartz coat it's just a coat and you really want to use it for 3 years. If you go to regular car wash with more aggressive chemicals you are going to wipe out your coat in a 1/2 a year. That's why you have to treat your coats carefully and extend its life a bit.

In that case why not just have the car waxed and follow the above regiment??? Skip the wraps and coats altogether or am I missing something?

Highly durable ceramic coat, which is mud repellent, scratch, tree gum, bird dropping and acid rain resistant, hydrophobic and much more would wipe out in a 1/2 a year?
Maybe, if one is using metal brush... Or you're talking car wax?

Here is my recent experience with two cars, apples to apples comparison:

It was 100+ degrees here and did not want to sweat washing two cars. Went to nearby touch less car wash.

1. One car has ceramic coat and came out clean and shiny, spotless.
2. The other car has xpel, but not a ceramic coat. Came out clean, but not so shiny and could see spots on the hood.

Based on this, the second car is getting ceramic coating at the first opportunity....
