I talked to my guy late afternoon yesterday and my car was still B8. Of course, he told me that he'd spent the day checking cars into the dealership's inventory which the system still showed as B7 and B8. So, we can't count on Netstar to be updated in a timely manner. From this point onward, it may be impossible to track our cars - we'll just get a call one day next month saying that they're ready for delivery.

I have this 2021 E63 wag available with massage seats. Production is Jan-13.

The status updates do seem to be sparse. I was hoping that my vehicle would have been loaded óver the past two days on either one of the carriers, but there has been no confirmation. My dealer is reviewing every day and he will certainly notify me if there is any change.

Same here. At this point, I'm not expecting any further updates. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised, but I shouldn't be disappointed.

Never ordered a brand new car w/MB so don’t really know: is it possible / has anyone been able to get a lower price than MSRP when ordering brand new?

I’m in the market for a 2021 wagon and it looks like my dealer will be able to get me a build allocation (paid a small refundable deposit on Dec 11, still nothing confirmed btw) and wondering if it’s feasible to negotiate to go below MSRP

Absolutely! It’s dealer-dependent, of course, but the good news is that it’s now a national market. You’re free to order from anywhere and that point should be made to any recalcitrant local dealers. You should be able to find a decent discount without too much effort, especially with this group as a resource. If you PM me, I’d be glad to share my salesman’s contact info.

I wonder how cold it will be in Bremerhaven while our cars are sitting there. One thing about Michelin PS4s is that they are out of warranty at temps below 45 degrees because the tread compound may crack. I checked my last E63S when it arrived in January 2018 for tire damage (found none). Looks like I'll have to run a check when my car gets here sometime late January/Feb. I hope that the cars get loaded before it snows there.

Agreed on all. I’ll definitely be checking my tires!

I agree but also wonder how true that is. We have a Porsche dealer a mile from my house and they have a ton of cars with summer tires on them sitting outside. I would assume it would be a huge problem if they cracked that easily. When I had a GT500 they claimed the tires may crack when moved in colder temps. Hopefully they are ok, my car is supposed to be built the end of February so I will be checking mine as well.

Weather says Bremerhaven average high in Dec, Jan, and Feb. is 40 and the lows around 30. Michelin says moving cars at or below 20 can cause cracking. Should be fine according to the stated averages.

When you order a car do you get to choose the tire brand? i.e. Continental, Michelin, Pirelli, or is just luck what Mercedes-Benz is installing at the time?

Body Colors, I was considering the designo Selenite Grey Magno (matte) $3,950. It would look really nice.
But I believe it is just asking for trouble and high maintenance. Any one have experience with the matte color?

I believe the tire choice is the luck of the draw. (I asked my SA to request Michelins) No experience with matte paint but I would assume it's a pita.

Agreed! Matte paint looks nice when new, but you'll be a slave to it to keep it undamaged. The tires installed are whatever is on the line at the moment of production. I wouldn't worry about what is delivered as they will need to be replaced after 10k miles anyway.

Hopefully, mine is on the same ship. BTW, I didn't see that ship in the list that I was following.

Update: Nope. Car is still at the port. Sigh!

It's not being held (There would be a code in that case). The dealer has 41 cars waiting to transport to Brunswick. It's probable that all of those including mine will ship together.

Ah. I should have put 'held' in quotes; I didn't intend to convey a formal hold, but merely reference the delay. I'm sure that you're correct about them grouping the shipment. It'll be on its way soon, no doubt.

Happy New Year!

The dealer told me that it's unusual for a car to finish production and then to be shipped out within two weeks. Sometimes it does happen, like in your instance, but he has told me that my car will be here in January. Honestly, the later it gets here means that it will be warmer in NC and I won't have to worry about subfreezing temperatures.

Happy New Year too!
